I had bulging discs (L3-4, L4-5, L5-S1) with severe back pain for several months. After a lot of rest, gentle exercising, light walks, and hot and cold compresses it has finally gotten better. Back to normal with no back pain. (mostly)

Signs you’re growing old

1. I went into an antique store and they wouldn't let me leave.
2. I found a dating site for seniors. It's called "Carbon Dating."

I always wanted one with a 110 film camera nosecone, but probably would have lost it just like many of my others. Seriously, I lost so many rockets that I should have just glued balsa fins onto the Estes engines to save money.

This brings back memories about junior high school science class, where everyone had the opportunity to build an Estes kit and then the teacher would take us outside to launch them. Every student chose a simple Level 1 kit, since it was their first and probably last foray into the hobby. I chose a Level 5 kit not made by Estes, that included a streamer-recovered booster and a piggyback balsa glider that released at apogee. Used the smallest engine that the kit was rated for, because I didn't want to lose the glider on the small school field that we were launching from.....

If you had a model airplane that you stood in one spot and circled the plane around you. The engines had a glow plug and ran on (I think) a methanol, castor oil, nitro mix. You had to wind up the propeller against a spring to start it. It would chop up your fingers when it started if you weren’t careful. I always crashed before I ran out of fuel because I was dizzy.

My 1st control line airplane was a Cox TD-4, a littler earlier than the PT-19.
It had an adjustable engine firewall for "Beginner" "Sport" and "Stunt." This
was the engine down-thrust angle, or lack thereof. Down thrust made the
airplane fly slower.

Not long ago, some friends and I were having a chat. We noticed that instead of talking about nice cars, pretty women, how much we can bench and the fun things we did this summer, we were comparing notes on what injuries we have, who has the best chiropractor and access to health benefits. How did we get here?

Maybe a little bit of luck, at least in my case.

Our department (before I retired) held 2 staff meetings per month. There was
a “Round table” discussion after the head cheese finished, allowing everyone to
add their 2 cents worth. One day when it was my turn to speak, I simply said,
“I’m just glad to be here.” Only my boss got it. Everyone else thought I was
nuts.

I posted about a similar experience a few weeks ago. I had lunch with my former boss, who is 6 or 7 years older. The conversation was largely about health issues. Wifey and I used to joke about her mother and my mother and her grandmother all taking about health issues every time we had a family gathering. Now I'm doing it.

We have turned full circle and are becoming our parents and grandparents, at least in that way (and some others, too).

I’m right there with you. I’ve been having a lot of difficulty getting comfortable with my arms while I sleep these days.

PS - I guess the most comfortable way to sleep is on your back but I can't fall asleep that way.

I’m a side sleeper and sleep with a pillow between my knees and one that I hug, keeps my arms “occupied”.
