I guess this was supposed to go in the Pet Thread, wasn't it.

Yes, although only the red tabby is still with us. We lost the other two a few years back now.

If I remember right, your cats have many things they can do to stay busy and active. Unlike my house cat, but they do adjust to living inside. Ours is going to be 11 later this year and still does lots of running and playing, although she is confined to the house. Years ago we used to let our cats out and some of them caught FeLV (feline leukemia virus) from other cats and died, so we don’t let them out anymore. |

The tabby's okay - she was totally in love with the black cat, but pets don't seem to notice when one goes missing. At least, that's how it looks. She's nearly 17 now and is winding down herself.

Yes, cats don't really show grieving, at least that I can tell. We had 2 black cats some years ago that were together for several years and were good friends. One of them suddenly had a stroke and had to be euthanized. The other cat didn't act any different, even though his buddy was gone. I'm sure he missed him but didn't show sadness that I noticed; didn't appear depressed or anything. He lived to be 14 and that was our oldest cat. I hope your 17yo tabby lives a long and happy life. Already has lived pretty long. |
