You know you’re old if the hospital put you in a box so your parents could transport you home when you and your mother were released. My grandmother kept the boxes with the names, date of birth, weight, height, and sex written on them for me and my siblings. She had them under her bed and used them for storage. Get off my lawn.

The model 28 is what I used in my early Army career.

My parents threatened to put me back into that box and return me to the hospital a few times.....

Used a teletype device in High School, connected to the mainframe at the college.
Had study hall and was able to go to the computer lab , a room with one of those.
Not sure if I did any programming but there was a ICBM game that we played.

Took all the dots from the paper tape, poured them in a friends parents car, into the dash vents.
When his dad got in and started the car, dots went flying out of the vents. Had not remembered that for a long time!
For reference

First year in college, had to use cards to write programs for classwork.

One year in college had an internship job in Cleveland at the Federal Building downtown,
working for the Dept of the Navy, where we used cards for programming,
and saw an "old" IBM computer that one had to rewire to program!

Guess the year? At this time I had a money market account that was paying 13% interest!

We had the same setup in high school. Teletype consoles in the lab, mainframe at the other high school in town. And those tape dots all over the floor. Never though of using them to prank someone. That's funny. We had an artillery game that must have been similar to your ICBM game. And then there was writing a simple program to print x, x squared, square root of x, etc, etc.

That reminded me of this. We got computer punch cards after we stood in line for hours during registration in college and if the class you wanted still had openings by the time you got to the front of the line you got a card that you then took to be read and registered for your classes.

When I first enrolled at Texas Tech University, a state school, tuition was $4/semester hour. A few years later, before I graduated, the state said we can’t maintain this subsidy and we must raise tuition to $12/semester hour and we all thought we had been shot through the heart!!

Just make sure you didn't use a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle baseball card, which sold for $12.6 million in August 2022.

Think about what some of those baseball cards would be worth today...you could buy something with a *real* engine from the sale proceeds.....

I use stainless steel clothes pins. They don't break or discolour the clothes.

I've never used clothes pins in my life. My mom did, though. Never heard of stainless steel ones; learned something new.
