Even if it only becomes a safety issue after 10-15K miles, there's no way they'd release the car. Not with a waiver. Never. Sorry to say, I think you're incorrect.

I need to catch up on this thread, left it at page 13.

I did get confirmation from the dealer that I was not affected since my car was still at the plant when the recall happened but I did know it was already released at that moment.

It was not affected and I still take delivery in two weeks. Its a US car.

Hope everyone gets everything sorted out so they receive their cars also!

I did call BMW NA to ask about compensation since they had promised to do something. My agent was on east coast hours but I expect to hear back in the AM.[/QUOTE]

Talked to BMW NA this morning and they are going to cover my first loan payment since I didn't have access to the car for the month. So at least they are doing something to make up for the hassle. Also stated that the car should be fine to drive for the interim until the parts become available.

So I guess I will go pick her up today Good luck to all of you!

Also, the stop was only lifted for the USA for now. All other markets (Canada included) have not yet had it lifted.
Has Canada been lifted too? My car was released to be shipped from the plant three days ago.

So you acknowledge you knew about the issue. Now, if it prematurely wears ... Then what?

Oddly BMWNA doesn't control Canada. I was working at BMWNA and looking for Canadian employment and my request had to go through alternative channels.

I find it quite fascinating how BMW mentions with all recalls that "all repairs will be performed free of charge" like as if they doing the customer a favor. I understand that defects happen, but statements like that piss me off. Damn right it should be done at their cost.

First, this was not a recall. Second, why would you be pissed at them for clearly stating that there will be no cost to the customer? What do you want them to say?

It's there for people that think the company is not gonna fix it .. Believe you me they have a lot more people that will ask 6 times to make sure it's still covered and also ask for it " in writing before I drive this off the lot "

Just got back from a road trip after picking up my car on Wednesday at the Performance Center. Glad to see the stop delivery has been lifted and hope many here get their cars shortly!

I had enough waiting to hear back from my dealer so I directed my complaint directly with BMW Aust. I have two things I need to know which I think is reasonable and that is 1. if the replacement differential is in the country, if so when did it arrive and 2. ETA. This has turned from an exciting experience to one of dread. How does BMW do business like this without informing the dealer nor the client!

My dealer rings me the inform me that received five emails from BMW Aus further to my formal complaint. 1. Removal of Stop delivery with waiver 2. The differential and parts have arrived 3.for my my car along with 20 others had been freighted to Melbourne and work had already commenced. At least I could wait with "purpose"!

Okay, called BMW Genuis on Wednesday and they said the hold is off your car and is just waiting on a truck to pick it up and take it to your dealership. I email my CA right away, still no response [now Saturday and they're closed].
I call my CA Thursday after still no email follow up and he says "lemme check with my manager and I'll get back to you." Still no call back
I call back to BMW Genuis on Friday to confirm that my car is on a truck and they say yes but they do not have the truck info. They were guessing 3 days from B-More to Wichita KS.
I call BMW Genuis this morning and they say that the car is still at Baltimore and hasn't left yet.
Pretty Damn frustrated in Kansas and no one can tell me what's the hell is going on. I'm about to start looking for a CPO and leave these trifling guys alone .

You've waited this long already, what's a couple more days?

I dropped my car off 9 weeks ago after my ED, it was released yesterday, and now they tell me the earliest I can do PCD is 9/19. 3 1/2 more weeks? No chance I am waiting for that.

It's not about a couple more days it's about having confidence that someone knows what's going on. Not comfortable with handing over a large sum of money to people who can't answer easy questions.

90% of CAs/Dealers have no clue. The good ones are rare.
