Well, my wife is 100 lbs dripping wet. The dog is still a puppy even at his weight.

I always thought him to be well behaved. I suppose there are different standards.

Something interested him in the grass that day. I don't think it means he is a monster

When your dog is eating grass means that something is wrong with his stomach .
I had in the past the same problem with my dog and he was eating grass too, the vet confirmed after the diagnosis a stomach inflammation .

85lb Husky...who are known to pull and be stubborn. Will walk off leash next to me or my wife and never go on a persons lawn. You set the standard, you train them to not chew people's lawns.

When he did that, did you stop your walk, tell him no, put him in a sit/stay and then walk up to your neighbor and have a discussion and apologize and tell him you'll make sure he's kept on a shorter leash when you walk him?

Probably not.

Did you even read the post. My wife was walking the dog. I didn't choose anything.

I know, you sound like the type that sits back and judges everyone's interactions with their dog and thinks "they don't know anything about training a dog." You probably think anyone needing a leash is a loser and can't train dogs for squat. Do I have that right?

Because your dogs are trained into submission, you carry that around like a badge of honor.

I don't mind you judging me or my dog as that's what this board is for, but if you are going to comment, could you not rely solely on one incident that didn't even involve me?

For the record, we walk my dog over 3 miles per day. We use the sidewalk. The dog bit the grass near the edge of the sidewalk---but, I wasn't there during the incident.

My neighbor apologized to me. He is a good guy.

I wanted to know if it were legal to put poison on your property in a location near the sidewalk where other animals could eat it.

Let's take me and my poorly trained dog out of the equation.

Is there a problem with leaving poison next to the sidewalk where dogs are likely to visit?

Apparently, the answer is that's ok.

That's pretty much all I wanted to know.

At first, I admit, I thought most on this board would think that would be reckless, inhumane, and dangerous.

Fine your wife should have diffused the situation but chose not too...I've had 6 dogs in my life from Chihuahuas to Huskies and all have been trained...not into submission, but to understand what is right and wrong. Your dog goes and eats some grass...there could have been a piece of meat with antifreeze on it because some asshole people do that, or he ingests some fertilizer and now your dog is now dead because you didn't train it well enough to keep off people's lawns.

If your wife can't handle a 70lb dog get a haltie so he doesn't pull her, or spend the time training your dog to follow simple commands like heel, or that no is no.

I'm not going to judge you from one incident, but from what you've told us thus far, you're making that difficult.

The thread title is dumb. You can ask your neighbor to remove the moth balls and let him know that you and your wife will take more care when walking your dog by his house. That would be the neighborly thing to do.

People have found that moth balls are good raccoon repellents. Be thankful that they didn't leave Cayenne pepper all over the lawn that would burn the pads of the feet. Moral of the story, it's your responsibility to keep you dog safe.
