The M3 S65 has a much flatter torque curve than the S85 V10. Until when VTEC kicks in is the V10 really good.

i would bet a 335 with a tune, 20lb rims, suspension, dp's, ehxaust, intake.. it could beat an m6 at least in Colorado. and on a track for sure take it as the m6 wouldn't really get to shine up high and the 335 will outhandel it with a proper wheel /tire and suspension setup with anti roll bars and a bitchin coil over setup.. it could be done for sure but it wouldn't be as reliable.. and the m6 isn't gonna be around that much longer anyways right maybe a few years.. see in reality you could probably take a honda civic swap engines and do a shit ton of work and it will beat an m6.. but who wants to do that.. everyone i know with a heavily modded car either loves it or is sick of taking it in to get it fixed or sick of their weekends being taken up their fixing their cars and not driving them.. heavily modded cars don't have a warranty for a reason. you stress the stock components more than they were meant to be stressed.. in that you could see your car last 150k instead of 200k or it could start having problems right away.. or it could be stock parts just failing as usual.. so you add to the fire.. but the rewaard can be great..
for me with dinan i have had great luck with 2 cars one just a 335 with a tune but the other a 95' e34 540i loaded with dinan mods.. and no problems with either related to the mods.. only issue with the e92 335 is a faulty bulb holder and some tape falling in front of the idrive.. they replaced the screen and the bulb module holder.. really my 335 has been the best most reliable car i have ever owned in 16k no issues other than that in 1 1/2 years!! next i think an m3 if i don't spring for a 911. ________ murci?lago ________ Club Royal Condominium Last edited by purplewidow; 09-11-2011 at 06:47 AM.. |

TBone, I admire your restraint and objectivity in this thread. Did you sell the M6? I notice its gone from your profile/sig. M3 in your future? Don't know if you saw I ended up with another poser-mobile . Hey old habits die hard - and this thing is beast enough for me.

OT but I'd ditch my 335xi right now for an M3 if I had a winter vehicle. The 335xi is the worst handling car ever. In all sincerity it is a POS once the road turns.

Can't comment on the handling of the 335xi, but I can tell you that the M3 is just fine in the winter. Oil Country = Texas? Or Alaska? Either way, the M3 will handle 90% of the terrain the 335xi will. Maybe not as easily, but it can do it. Only place the xi is really required is if you really need AWD for the traction, such as in a mountainous area.

Just wanted to point out that many people have 335i's with every bolt on possible.
For example I have a DME 80, no progman 29.2 and Forge DV's complete catless DP's and exhaust with JB3 and intake and custom Kandy Apple Brembos 6 piston 380 mm up front and 4 piston in back with KW v2's and on and on and on. What is my point huh? Well it dynos slightly over 400 rwhp on 100 octane and we all can agree there is at least a 15% drive train loss on a 6AT. That comes to 470+ hp under the hood. There is no reason why a 335i to the max cannot beat an M6. However, with that said, I have seen an M5 (same engine as M6) also tuned to the max rip a 335i that was tuned to the max. In fact it was so bad the 335i looked stock. So to each their own but not all tuning is equalt and there are many different versions of fast 335i's. PS M6 is not slow. Unless you have owned a GT2 or Ferrari or R1 there are only a few cars stock that are faster. Nothing slow about 500HP. |

So what is "fast" for you? Last I checked a 12 second street car was pretty damn fast.

I'm not a troll thats 1 . I'm sorry you own an m6 so in your eyes its the best (tbone). Cant say that i have personally ever owned a Faster car then an m6 because i haven't. But ive been in plenty of fast cars and im telling you not because i THINK im cool or i Despise the m6, but its not GOD like plenty of you refer to it . I think the m6 is a good all around car. But to go to the extent that it RIPPED your chest off is excessive. Just like any other car in the world you can put loads of money into it to make it a better performer . I'm not arguing its a good motor or it doesn't have potential . But this car Stock . Just didn't do it for me thats all.
