I appreciate the responses everyone. It's a pretty devastating loss - not only the car but all the tools, parts and everything i've collected over the last 15+ years.
Working with insurance companies on all fronts and trying to get things all figured out. So far it hasn't been great, the shop itself is a little underinsured so it's turning into a bit of a fight. Fire unfortunately started due to negligence of an acquaintance. He was burning boxes on the property (which I knew about) but he didn't fully extinguish the pile, left the property and something reignited between 2:40 and 3:20/30pm or so. Whole garage was consumed within TEN minutes.

STILL waiting on my official settlement from USAA but they're treating me well tbh. They were basically right on market with good comps the first go around to net out ~28k on the car, refunding my sales tax ~2k and then the gap insurance I paid +6k.
During this process they told me they actually also cover/reimburse aftermarket parts up to a certain limit, as well as major maintenance done within the last year. I submitted a whole stack of receipts from the costs I incurred and should hear back from them within the next few days. In the meantime.... '04 with 54k miles and a really solid base for further modification. I'll break it down into the upcoming posts as there's some stuff to sort out and fix, but overall it's a MUCH better base. Body is a 9/10 with the most minor imperfections, interior is probably a 9.5/10.

Glad you and your family are safe!
I would not be able to stomach doing the same project again. Good luck to you. Materials can always be replaced and seems like insurance is treating you somewhat fair. |

I have a few things ahead to do and get it a little better sorted: - TOB is squealing so I went ahead and bought a new one, firewall adjuster and clutch quadrant - i'll see if I can adjust it enough to get the TOB off the pressure plate - The car came with a fully-built 35-spline strange SRA setup with a spool. yes, a 35-spline spool. So I ordered a 35-spline strange s-trac differential so I can actually street drive the car. The rear-end is dope though, all welded axle tubes, welded team z bracing and all. It's probably good for 1500hp lol. - Full-length subframe connectors because the 'verts are wet noodles when it comes to chassis rigidity. - Billet idler pulleys (3) as the factory ones are known to.. explode lol. Otherwise I adjusted the tune to make it a little richer across the board by a few pts. I was sitting around 11.5-8 at WOT and i'd like it to sit a little richer. Next on the list: - front coil overs from Maximum motorsports, camber plates, koni SA (again lol) and then the car should be in a good spot to do the fun stuff. Tentative plans are a Whipple 2.9, full return fuel system and just see what a 93 tune nets out to be. Maybe mid-600's or so and leave it there.

I've missed the boat on several dream 90's - 2000's cars and wasn't going to do that again. Thankfully I'm very happily and gainfully divorced but also happened to have a very very supportive SO that actually pushes me to spend on myself

I signed contracts and paid for half of the garage rebuild upfront last week to cover materials cost, etc. They're supposed to have dumpster(s) dropped off this week and start the cleanup immediately. Estimated time to clean up, fix the damaged portions of the walls, roofing and doing electrical is a month, but we'll see about that. Hahah yeah, escalated very quickly... then deescalated... then escalated back one more time. Have some parts coming in over the next few days so hopefully i'll be back driving it around more here soon. The spool in the rear really sours the driving experience, so i'm trying to just not drive it until the strange s-trac gets in.

Haha yeah, definitely that as well. Someone is _supposed_ to come here today to do a quick look around for dumpster placement but they were also supposed to come by yesterday lol. Not a great start on the timing front
