Sig-figure in USD? No, not over here. Here BMW is a slightly above average Joe type car. Luxury would be Maserati, Bentley, Aston Martin, etc. |

A few days later… and I still like it. I think quality of materials and fit/finish will make or break the design for production models. I’d pay the premium to see a higher standard than what’s being put out by other major EV manufacturers in the small sedan segment. If BMW has adhered to its circular design philosophy, we should see the company’s margins maintained, or even improved, without taking a hit to the production quality standards we’ve come to expect. I’d argue we could even see quality improve relative to sales prices.. but that’s really a matter of production capacity. The design is refreshingly different to me.. Around me, streets are crowded with EV’s that all look the same.. Just my $0.02 but really excited for the future. I envy all you guys (and gals) that get to hang out at the dealerships and talk about this stuff every day. Cheers.

The exterior looks pretty cool but the interior looks like a 70’s disco fibreglass speedboat with a iPad tacked on the dash. It’s awful on the inside.

I like it overall, starting with the fact that it has a reasonable footprint and cool retro vibes.
What I hope doesn’t make production is the silly glass roof (never understood why), the white interior (these people haven’t had kids yet but surely they’ve been small and obnoxious at some point) and most of all, the blatant copy of the Tesla Model 3 interior design. The only reason I don’t have a T3 as my daily right now, and I mean the only reason, is the interior. Yes I get that BMW will project instrumentation on the lower windshield and that is perfectly fine for ergonomics and safety. But the rest is too Tesla-derivative. If I would accept this, might as well buy a Tesla now, why wait.

My fellow Beamers,
I can almost guarantee that the production version will look NOTHING like this concept version. We have heard this before with the BMW i4, "the production car will look 90% the same as the concept version...." blah blah blah. The seats will not look like the concept seats. The roof will not be all glass The dashboard will look nothing like the concept The exterior will be 90% unlike the concept version The interior will look far different than this and NO WAY will this be kept for production car. As for range of more than 450 miles, we will have to wait and confirm. That's huge growth from what we have now and even if achieved how will that reflect on the price of the car? Almost full charge in about 20 minutes is possible though. |

I hate it. I hate it so much.
The size is good, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this bloat into a bigger car once in production. The problem with EVs is that characteristics like range and size go together. It's unavoidable. I fancy myself an environmentalist, of sorts, but the more I see how electrification has taken the lead in car-size bloat (in both volume and mass), the more and more I feel disillusioned that any net-good will come out of it. I don't care for the front. I will take my Beaver Teeth front end over this fat plastic double-chin look anyday. There are aspects of the profile I think look okay -- but it's pretty plain and as this bloats up in size (as I swear it will), it will look more and more like those ugly teslas of giant flat plastic panels. "clean" looks is great for a prison cell, but I hate applying that aesthetic to my car. What I hate most of all is the dash. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. Give me knobs, buttons, screens, and data. And why the white? White is by far my least favorite color. And yet, all the electrification move is always about pushing white. |

I am almost totally sure I will wake up and cry in the heart of the night due to the PTSD this car's design gave me, for many moons to come.
Speechless, not in a good way |
