You people make me sad…I’m 64 and plan to embrace the new technology and all the changes that are coming. Can’t fight the future! My neighbor purchased a restored 69 Chevelle…once a car of my dreams. My gosh I forgot how poorly they ride and drive…the future is better than the past (regarding cars)

I too am not against new technology. I am against inappropriate technology or gimicky technology
I also hate it when something is changed and it is not actually better than what was before, ie it doesn’t actually work better An example would be gesture control It’s clever , I wail grant you but does it work aswell as a button? It works 100% of the time? Touchscreen really I feel is not the right type of interface in a car , particularly when on the move. Aston Martin with thei new db12 seemed to have got the balance right , have a look at that. Buttons for all the stuff you need day to day and no tablet slapped in the middle I like some of the new tech in the cars like the semiautonomous driving features which I use a lot I won’t rant on for ages . Styling wise it’s ok ish but I don’t warm to it at the moment. |

tl;dr
1) appliance commuter car - slightly better than before (Btw- In the US the price of a new 3 dual motor is about the same as model Y long range (Y inventory is marked down and new is about a $2k delta, not taking into account applicable tax credits which make the Y about $6k less). 2) autopilot is inferior to others like Merc and BMW (I would note that FSD $12k is not autopilot, nor advanced autopilot $6k- this basic autopilot is lane keep assist and variable cruise control. FOC is phantom braking, which means I don’t use it anymore.) 3) boring for mindless commuting 4) stalks have been removed (this would keep me from buying a new Tesla) Yes, I agree with all his points having owned a couple of these. |

Like it! Think the love will come with time, as radical designs tend to take a little time to wrap one’s head around completely.
Vertical Kidneys add a cool retro vibe, and I’m so glad this thing has a strong well defined hoffmeister kink. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — a BMW without one is not a bmw at all. Sorry G82, it’s not your jaw that offends me but your hips

It feels like all modern BMWs are designed by committee, where everyone's opinion matters and no one is ever told "no". One group does the headlights, one group does the kidney grills, etc. Then they shove them together at the end. It doesn't feel cohesive. It doesn't feel like one designers vision. It feels like a hodgepodge of different ideas.

I really like it, much more than the sedan actually. It looks complete, the sedan looks too minimalist.
Though I must admit when I saw the front for the first time I thought of Angry Birds, lol. |

People have been complaining about big grilles here for years and they go back to classic E30 style and people still complain. Designing automobiles today has to be one of the more thankless jobs these says having to deal with today's outrage culture. I love it as it's unmistakably BMW and strikes a nice balance between past and present.

I'm one who still hates the current pig nose grilles, they haven't grown on me one bit. This exterior design looks great. I dig the 70/80's retro vibe. Hopefully the illumination aspect doesn't make production. The Tesla-style interior is questionable, but that is the trend of all EVs.
