Another street circuit with zero run off room, concrete, and armco barriers surrounding it. I realize it's a simulation but it's probably close to reality.

Some can keep on about some Charlie and Max dream team at the green team but MAX is going nowhere and will suffer gladly the '25 RB21 while it's ahead of all the others except the Larens at the mo , rumoured that RBR has a rocket PU waiting for '26, Powertrains engine and Ford wiz electrics so leaving may well be a mistake.

I still hope to see Max and Charlie go head to head in same equipment someday. Agree, I still prefer SAI over HAM. Maybe even Albon. He was matured a lot.

Just waiting for 'someone's' counter argument any moment now for why they'd take Lewis until death instead of Carlos ..

According to the latest (!)

The McLaren MCL39 car has a 4 Liter container filled with dry ice...

Dry Ice = Solid Carbon Dioxide (CO2) = A refrigerant.
What is Dry Ice ? => https://www.supagas.com.au/blogs/sup...hat-is-dry-ice
That's the McLaren brake and tyre cooling trick..

Hahaha, so low tech.

That would technically make their cars lighter at end of race.

Low tech ? Yes and No .
I agree the container is low tech , but how do they get the cold air from the dry ice in the container to the brakes and tyres ?
I think the container has one or two valves , controlled by a sensor that opens the valves with a variable volume according to the speeds of the car and the tyre temps.
And I don't see another way that the cold air must be transported via tubes or channels to the brakes and tyres .
I'm pretty sure , Rob Marshall is not an idiot and his tyre cooling invention is extremely sophisticated (!)

Make their car lighter ? Yes.
But that's no issue ,that is of course very carefully calculated. As long as the cars weight is not less than 800 KG at the end of the race.

Yes, the original theory was phase changing materials; this is just plain refrigeration.

McLaren asked the FIA to install the dry ice container specifically for cooling the drivers. I'm skeptical that much dry ice would make that much of a difference on the tires for an entire race.

Could be that the cockpit and the tyres are cooled by a 'cavity' that allows cool air to reach the rear tyres, as said in the article.

I asked Chat GPT to solve this question since while I'm an engineer and loved physics, I don't have time to research the needed info. It was a resounding - dry ice cannot substantially cool the tires during a grand prix.

There is a total of 4500 kJ of cooling capacity in 4 liters of dry ice. F1 tires generate thousands of kJ per minute.

Fun for some clicks, but the math isn't mathing.
