I can relate. About 10 years ago, I went into the ER two days after coming home from my girlie beach week. I wound up in NYU for a month with a room overlooking the East River and LIC. In my mind, I was at a beach resort with an ocean view room. Those drugs.....

As a matter of fact it did. When the TV was not working, we used to pull the tubes out and take them down to the liquor store and test them. I guess that qualifies me for this thread.

My loss of reality included a visit to a North Vietnamese hootch where I was being held prisoner. Why I have no idea as I did not serve in the military. At another point I could hear the nurses plotting to get me if I got out of the bed. Ridiculous since I was too weak to get up anyway. And the nurses were always very nice to me. I know that NOW but at that time I thought they were going to kill me.

I was also convinced the nurses were selling pharmacy quality narcotics to guys in zoot suits driving harleys up to the window. The fact we were on the 4th floor had no bearing on my hallucinations.

All I know is if I ever have a loved one in hospital that is suffering from this I will be more understanding of it. It seems very real to the person living through it.

Vacuum tube tv’s were my early years; way too young to have to work on it, but would still get in trouble for watching tv when I supposed to be doing chores and/or sneaking out of my room to watch tv after hearing my parents go to bed. Rake the shag was a chore along with 'normal' first grader stuff like mowing the lawn.

The Sony Walkman/Arcade rat generation here. But kids get it; they’ve seen Stranger Things, and It. So I’m still pretty retro-cool… or is that vintage?

I always watched for the bubbles at the end of Lawrence Welk on Sunday night because it signaled the start of The Wonderful World of Disney which came on next.

Wow, that's pretty screwed up. I can't imagine what it was like. At least my delusion calmed me because I thought I was in my happy place.

You had to be old to watch Lawrence Welk. Anybody here that old; or care to admit it (watching that show)?

Not by choice. Great Grandma had to watch that on Sunday night. Sunday was always grandma's house and back then there was no such thing as a TV in every room. And back then, the adults won, not the kids.

Exactly. I had no option other than when the bubbles started it was over and I could watch something I liked.
