I would say it's a positive trend that more and more Japanese artists are releasing their works in digital formats as well, but I prefer CD (which is still the dominant media type there). I've gone as far as DMing artists to coordinate online orders, in-person purchases at events (through a friend in Japan), and even sending money directly... Definitely an addiction and obsession.

I recognize Unlucky Morpheus--they started out as a doujin circle. They seem to be more focused on their traditional band/commercial-minded side now, but they have a number of other CDs as well. Mostly 東方Project (Touhou Project) arrangements. See my guide above for more info if you're looking to collect their old CDs. Most of them should be easy to find, although not cheap.

Thanks a lot for the info. The cd's that I have sourced from Japan have all cost AU$50-70, which were by Band-Maid who have international distribution. I'm hearing more and more on youtube which is where I learned about these bands in the first place. I'm with you with getting a physical cd for your money, a digital download is just data on a hard drive.
