Mission accomplished. I used a 2021 bottle of Unshackled by The Prisoner for the test. I opened the bottle and immediately poured 2 glasses. First taste was of the “unfrothed”, then “frothed”. It was noticeably better. Nothing more than a speedy decant, but the difference was obvious. $7 frother from Amazon.

I don’t recall posting or seeing Far Niente on here yet. Decanted for an hour, and sipping on it now. Heavy on tobacco and blueberries. Surprise surprise, it’s a beautiful winery.

Just got a shipment of champagne from a Champagne House we visited in Champagne last month.

(That's..... sort of a weird sentence. )

We attended a wine dinner tonight at one of our favorite restaurants. The wine was good, the food superb. We met some new friends, and sat next to the owners and had fine discussion of wine, food, and the fact that as restaurant owners we all hate Yelp. Yelp sucks, my feelings are confirmed. Nothing more than extortionists. Good times!

Cleared a whole bottle of Albariño tonight with a great mushroom pasta at Plumpjack in Squaw Valley (Palisades if you've "woke" up). Had to treat myself after winning my swim race this am.

So for my fellow wine lovers out there, here is an offer that is pretty good.

The 2021 Justin Cabernet Sauvignon recently scored 95 points at the 2024 London Wine Competition:

Awarded 95 points at the 2024 London Wine Competition, our 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is made in Paso Robles with the same care as the highest quality, traditionally crafted Bordeaux-style wines. For a limited time, we are offering you the exclusive opportunity to stock up on this exceptional wine at 30% off!

The 2021 JUSTIN Cabernet Sauvignon is remarkably balanced and complex, and pairs well with a wide variety of dishes — try it with grilled chicken or burgers at your next cookout or with a classic filet mignon at your favorite steakhouse.

Simply log in to your account here and use code CAB21 at checkout to enjoy 30% off six or more bottles. Inventory is limited, so stock up while supplies last!

So if you order you get 30% off of 6 bottles with that coupon code, but note you must be a member (I believe membership is free). With shipping, the price per bottle came out to about $28.

If you prefer other wines, or a different quantity, I am scanning in an offer for 30% off your first order when you join as well as the latest price list (attachments included).
Enjoy!

The 1858 is really good for the price. Haven't been able to find it at our local Total wine the last few times we were there.

Agreed. We were pleasantly surprised. I think with the sale it came out to about $32/bottle?

....but everyone wants to know: did you use the frother?

PS I've said it before in this thread - some of the very best California wines are coming out of Paso Robles these days...

Speaking of Paso Robles... We just booked 5 nights in Cambria mid September. Going on our own little Sideways journey. It's not quite the trip we had planned for August prior to my little setback, but it will certainly do. I can't wait.

Check out Fiscalini Ranch Preserve while you are in Cambria. You can walk along the ocean on easy trails with stunning views.

Thanks guys. Here is the preliminary list. We won’t have time to hit all of them, but will try for most. In the mean time, breathing for a bit before DoorDash brings us some Greek food.
