Benefits of being lightweight. Discuss.
Something something two doors, four wheels, light weight, diesel something. This could be the BRZ STI guys. Discuss. Breaking news: Lotus is offering the Exige S roadster for sale, but not in the US. I'm sure this has something to do with the BRZ! Read and discuss. http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....-sroadster.jpg

Man, I couldn't summarize it better myself... it's very true that one image can be worth a thousand words... the benefits are so damn obvious from the perspective you've just showed us that there's really not much left to discuss... except:
Why «we'd have read reams about the engineering prowess of founder Colin Chapman, who realised in the Fifties what other carmakers are only just beginning to understand now: lightness is everything»??????? Why isn't that obvious for BMW??????? Can you tell?????? Can you tell us why it was so obvious in the Toyobaru case????? And if it's so obvious, doesn't doing the opposite look just plain stupid????? Light cars, light girls and light girls in light cars and the world would definitely be a better place...

That is the one million dollar question... the other one is when we'll see Kobayashi driving for Ferrari F1... So, my answer to you is 2014

Interesting, real world pictures do not work for me, the side profile is very unfortunate and that color appears to be terrible, hopefully its just color balance in those shots and it's not really that washed out.

Oh, that's perfectly fine... we can't all like the same things. They have to sell the X1 and all the other female oriented cars to someone anyway... normally they are big and heavy.

It will be interesting to see where the 4C ends up being priced, if as initially rumored it falls between the Cayman and Cayman S, I think they'll have a winner, but if as recent US car magazines have speculated, it's closer to base 911 pricing, then it will be a colossal fail. I think the Launch Edition will be a relatively poor value, but hopefully the reel it in with the regular model and get the higher power version out quickly too. Just dreaming, but they'd also find a way to sort out a third pedal option too... |

But, don't forget that the third pedal absence serves the only purpose of saving weight! |

Your 1M isn't exactly a light car either, there are countless things that simply weigh less (like my turd of a daily driver) but don't offer the same overall package. I debated one to replace my M Coupe, they're good cars. But I think twenty or thirty pages ago, the point of this thread was to discuss lighter, more directly involving cars. You can keep making fun of my wife's car, and I'll keep making fun of nice race car drivers that won't amount to much. You'd think some asshat at Subaru could figure out how to add some power, real brakes and decent tires to the BRZ while we're rambling on about vaporware Alfae. |
