Depends on what can be done. At the moment nothing is fully committed to. As they have to launch the standard M2.

They have only started to show the finished car although I have not seen it myself yet.
Remember That bumper which we have all become accustomed to.
It Appears to be far more impressive now that intake details are finally shown and not just a huge space. The car appears to be showing more "angular" details at the front and rear. Apparently the squared headlights make it all work.

It blends in with typical 2 dr outline and the arch blisters that are more pronounced than the standard 2.
You can actually see this in angled spy photographs (Look at the car coming towards you)

There are two new colours that pay Hommage to the 2002 Hommage Concepts. Zandvoort Blue and another Orange-Red colour which I did not get the name of. I don't know if they are showing it with the "finished" Touring and something frozen in Brooklyn Grey? Or a new stand alone flavour of "Extra-Boost Energie" drink mixed with a label of Scottish Whiskey?

Is the rumored i4 xDrive40 (400hp) still in the works for this November? I find that hard to believe given how much demand there is for the eDrive40 and dealers now quoting delivery times into 2023. Is it possible all of the late year delivery times automatically get switched to the xDrive or would they be downgraded to the eDrive35?

I always have to repeat the caveat that any model can be cancelled by the management regardless of its development status. With that in mind - yes, the xDrive40 is still in the works with the planned November start of production.

Ok, do you know if M2 Competition will be available in manual or only the base M2 (assuming there is a base)?

Thanks folks. My dealer is sticking strong that the LCI is coming this year as a 2023 model year. I’m floored cause they could easily make money on me for a 2022 model year X5 but have suggested I wait for the LCI.

Actually they probably don’t have MY22 allocations left so.. and they’re 100% wrong since we’d have more leaks of non-camo’d test drives if release was imminent.

Correct. If there were an LCI this year they would've launched it alongside the X7 with them both going into production in July.

F40 LCI?

Any news on the F40 LCI? We're seeing spy pics regularly now, though the top post doesn't say anything about a facelift.

Or are these prototypes mules for the F70?

Yes, interesting question (F40 LCI).
I don't think we will see it because regarding lifecycle BMW would have presented it already...

Thanks Scott26.

Even the "tried and true" Sensatec would suffice. I've had a few with it and its comfy and durable.

I like either Merino or Sensatec. Venasca doesn't feel very good to me.

I'm not sure how that follows - the M4 CSL is happening right now, an M2 CSL would be several years in the future and it's possible that even M hasn't made up their mind about it yet, either.

Actually, no, it's not possible that even M hadn't made up it's mind. They already know exactly what they'll be pushing out the doors until 2030.

There may be a M2CS but won't be a M2CSL

I think you're confusing the F87's with G87's.

F87 CSL was developed in conjunction with the CSR but had to be culled. Instead the CS became a little more than intended, and the CSL parts became part of the very extensive M Performance Parts offerings.

If a G87 CSL can be done, it will be done.

I'm not suggesting a G87CSL, can't be done. I'm merely saying, if it was going to be done, it would have been announced as such, as was the G82CSL.

Having said that, like your good self, I'd rather buy a M2CSL than a M4CSL - it'd be shorter, and hopefully lighter than the 4er which would be absolutely fantastic.

That's a good question. I really don't see a reason for having separate G87 Core and Comp variants at this point beyond vague continuity with M3/4 nomenclature. IMO, one basis variant (M2 Competition), choice of transmissions.

That makes no sense. At that time, the G82 was already to market. The G87 was not and is still months away from market launch.

Hell, if we used your same logic here, the M3 CS, M4 CS, and M4 GT/Hommage won't happen either because they weren't specifically mentioned.

EPA Common App looks consistent with what you're saying:
Attachment 2877412
Interesting, I hope that's the case since I really want a manual in the top of the line spec.

Not sure what the source of that spreadsheet is, but it does worry me a little that it doesn't say "M2 competition" instead of "M2 Coupe" if all of them would be competitions. But I do agree that it would be weird to have a base M2 and M2 comp on the entry level M car since there's so little to differentiate to begin with.

That's a huge screw-up. Those pages should be redacted per CBI Rules.
