I think technically if there's a light there and you have a red light, even though you're turning right and it doesn't say "no turn on red," you still have to stop and yield to people making that left. Even though they are being dipshits. If you slammed into someone and they had the green arrow and you had a red, you'd probably still get a ticket.

That being said, I was always taught to turn into the lane closest to you. Then you can change lanes if you need to.

The turning concept you mention is something I think I mentioned before, or thought of it. Idiot with a Prius swinging their car out to the left to make a right turn, like they are driving a tractor trailer and are afraid to jack-knife. Ridiculous.

People who can't park sensibly when there is snow on the ground. You still only need to be far enough away to open your door. No need for half a car width.
