Smoked some pigsicles this weekend. Went with a sweeter rub for the wife's ribs, and spicy for mine. Did a honey bbq rub on hers and put a little apple juice in the foil when I wrapped. Mine had a mix of Mango habanero and honey sriracha rubs, and I added a little Tiger sauce when I wrapped it.

Spent part of the day yesterday putting this together. My old one was 10-15 years old and in the last year or so several non-replaceable parts had starting to rot away.

Ugh I need a new gas grill for home. Do I buy another $500 homedepot special that lasts 10 years but I have to rebuild 1/2 way through? Or poney up and buy a weber?

My issue is I need the same cooking space. I just feel stupid paying over a grand for a grill...

If cooking space is the only criteria, then yes get the cheaper disposable brand (although $500 sounds expensive for a cheap disposable). But if heating capacity, heat retention, build quality matter then get something better.

I bought a new grill in 2015 when I wanted a bigger one (went with LION, wish I stuck with Weber). I still have my Weber Genesis I bought back in 2002 that I use once or twice a year when I need even more space. It is has a cover over it but is in an uncovered part of our patio. I have replaced grill grates, burners, casters, thermometer and other parts on it over the years, but it keeps going. Weber’s will definitely last but if you don’t grill much or care about how well it heats and holds heat, I’d go cheaper than the $500 option and just replace it when necessary.

Just assembled the same unit with my son in law last week. Well made BBQ.

Thanks. I've been experimenting with my own marinades lately. And I'm very happy to say that I've created some special ones. Ginger has been the main flavor profile I've used.
So basically the one used here consists of:
Fresh ground ginger, OJ, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper. Honestly I don't use exact measurements, I simply mix and adjust the next time if it wasn't too my liking.

I started with a Weber Smoker, and functionality wise, it hit the mark. I made some really good brisket and ribs in it. But man, was it messy. I don't think many wives would be interested in dealing with it, and cleaning it after use made it something I didn't look forward to. So I sold it, and bought a Kamado Joe and I'm pissed I didn't do it sooner. Such a joy to use, and it's downright EASY. My father, who is someone who would traditionally never mess with BBQing, was so impressed that he actually bought one for himself.

The Kamado Joe very versatile. I've used it to make traditional meat, but also stews, pizzas, breakfast, etc.
