observation: Being poor and hanging out on BMW forums and Porsche forums is like living in the Matrix.

I call it second DD.
When I need an practical car, I would use the M3 and for notmal driving without any car related expectation's...the gallardo.

But hey oppinion's do change and that's why I'm now out for something liiiittle different, GT-R/ M4.
We will see, at the end what really got me was the first key impression...reminded me on my old w220 e class and then the sound, dramatic loud cold start circle.
Man I'm honest I will check out some Nissan's and M4's and will go from there.

Here is kind of what I think about exotics as a whole -

If you can afford one brand new, then so be it... these cars are made for you. If you buy one that is 3 or 4 years, then you should still get it... older than that and you are buying an exotic solely for the badge imho... the performance of some of these vehicles that are already 3-4 years isn't much better than a slightly modded sports sedan or the like... with that being said, paying the extra for insurance, maintenance and repairs and the overall cost for the cars is imho nearly senseless if you aren't at least stunting in something nearly new... i mean, it is an exotic, right? To me a Ferrari 360 and 430 at this point are pieces of junk w a Ferrari badge and Gallardos are pieces of junk with Lambo badges... A brand new vette z06 looks better, costs cheaper and will take a dump on them performance wise... granted it's not an exotic but neither is it's price and it performs better than some. However, if you can swing a Ferrari 488, Mclaren 675 or the like, then we are in a different discussion all together.

So your advice to people is to only buy an exotic and then resell it before it becomes a piece of junk, ie. Gallardo and 430?

Don't get with me when your post lacks the specificity for people to realize that you mean only 360s and 430s, but not other F-Cars.

So you think a gated 6 speed 360 and 430 will be worth nothing in the future because they lack any historical significance?

Correct, because if it did, then it would already be there like the previous gen Porsche Gt3... The newer cars are so much better, that I think for the most part no one cares about this other than rare exception enthusiasts but chances are those people already own the current cars.

6.99%-7.44% interest rates? I'll finance ya'lls exotic car obsession at those numbers any day. You have to be GB tier minimum though (which drops the percentages to 6.49%-6.94%). I'll gladly take 6.49% on $150,000-$500,000 for the foreseeable short term future.

This didn't happen to be from Motorcars of GA did it? Those guys will do anything to get you into a car, you could drive up in a 1999 Camry and a $40k/year job and they will find a way to get you into a Lamborghini, especially if they think you might total it at some point.

Exotics are often looked at like vintages. A 360 and 430 are still excellent cars and the last of the 6speeds. They are in high demand values are going up tremendously.

One could argue that e9x are "junk" compared to the f8x as our HP is under, weight up, and performance stats below the new car. Those factors aside, our cars are emotional, have a spirit, sound and feel that is very different than the new cars and really appeal to me. I think the same can be said for the F cars. That is the ultimate reason to buy a car and reason why people are buying e30 m3's and air cooled carreras which are blown away stats wise from their modern equivalents.

I also would never buy an exotic to track. Im sure I would take it out a few times to see what its like but I wouldn't be pushing it 10/10's and even a 6mt ferrari 360 would be more than enough for me in the performance category as I would just drive it in canyons and the street.

pricing is insane. my friend bought a 6MT, red/tan Ferrari 355 Fiorani edition for $75k, sold it to a dealer for $145k, dealer sold it for $180k. The 6MT 360 and 430 will absolutely continue to climb in price as we have seen the past few years. A lot of 430's that were $140k a few years ago are $180-200

Maintenance costs are very high on exotics, and that's greatly compounded if you drive them more frequently. Some of the bills for maintenance work that come through our shop would make anyone sweat!

agreed. i think i've heard before that anyone can afford a lamborghini but not just anyone can afford the maintenance.

of course some exaggeration there or perhaps a misquote but close enough.
