Ahh that's too bad!

And no, no time for dating/women

I stick to simple, crock pot recipes where I cook meat in bulk. I'll throw in Campbell's slow cooker crock pot sauces to make things easy as well. Other than that there are a couple of cafeterias on campus that provide reasonably priced meals, so that's been a staple of mine. I still eat out - just much less frequently. It's partly due to lack of time and partly due to feelings of embarrassment on what I'd define as conspicuous consumption with money that I have not earned on my own.

Nothing wrong with domestic! My dad's hitting 60 this upcoming year and I've told him to consider the CTS-V as an option.
That's my boy. We're all proud of you and keep up the good work. It's much easier when you find a gal that cooks good and healthy food. Or dude, not gonna judge, still going to be proud.

My two latest acquisitions were domestic for no other reason than me just trying to be a hick. Hick life ain't easy.

I really think it should be mandated to take some career and life classes for High School and College Courses.

The amount of people that have very, very limited financial literacy is astounding. I am not one to have a soapbox to stand on, but man... people need to learn to itemize expenses and see how the sum of the parts equals to whole.

Where in HK did you live? Always enjoyed walking around CWB and seeing exotic cars. I was always shocked because even a civic is $$$$ in HK. When I was in Richmond/Vancouver, relatives were telling me about all of the exotics around have "beginner" driver stickers, hahaha.

Sakhir has the best mindset. Choose wisely and then you can do a lot on a relatively small income.

I am always shocked at how people spend their money. They treat it like it grows on trees in one conversation only to complain about how they are broke in another.

Never heard of such a thing.
Stocks are where the elderly lack risk tolerance, and they should, with the lunatics in banking and wall street that have shown their complete disregard for the greater good in order to enrich themselves. 2008 meltdown anyone?

I guess I don't follow, because my wifes parents own many properties and they are decades into retirement. Friends of my wifes parents, one in particular, owns about 16 rentals. Most elderly people I know who have property, keep it, because they want the assets passed on in the family.
Most i know keep it because it generates revenue for them to live off of.

I've never made 6 figures in my entire life by myself (with my wife we did) and now that I am retired, I never will. What does age have to do with making 6 figures.

But I have owned 18 BMWs, my home is paid for and I paid cash for my M4. You don't have to make 6 figures to achieve success.
The calendar year that is being compared for employment matter though. A $100k salary today was quite possibly equal to your salary many moons ago.

About 20 years ago I was saving the world from Shub-Niggurath. This in-and-of-itself is not how I was able afford my toy. It was the reward I received for fragging it that was then invested in NVIDA that did it.

The issue is... at a young age, do you focus on saving for retirement or growing wealth.

Often times, in order to grow wealth, you must also have money to invest. Investing at a young age to do such a thing usually forces an individual to pull back in other areas such as retirement.

Finding the balance between the two is often times the challenge.

I'd rather work at a job I love on a daily basis making only 10k a year, than work at a job I hate making 200k a year.

It has been mentioned a few times in this thread, anything can be bought... whether or not you can afford should be the true deciding factor.
No I'd rather work at the shot job for 200k a year. I seriously don't get the I hate my work thing. But I'd rather work with fun ppl at a shit job than an awesome job with shit ppl.

Heh, yeah... that's what blows me away about the 50+ million crowd.
Take the old crypt keeper fossils on 60 minutes who are knocking on deaths door. Those morons would rather waste their life away on obtaining every last dollar than living it up in every way their last few moments.

The dream job is the held by Alex Trebec of Jeopardy. They film all the episodes for a whole month during a 3-day binge, then pay him 10 million a year. Jeezuz H, and he has been doing that job for how many decades now?

You know what I love about being freelance? Good job, good pay, good people... if one of those line up, I just leave and move on to the next contract.

But those people who work til the very end have a much different mindset than most. This mindset is what allowed them to achieve what they have.

I think it's simply that they are lazy. How much effort does it take to have your nurse wake you from your coffin, get a sponge bath, get wheeled out to your limo, driven to the studio, then sit in front of a camera and read a teleprompter for a $1+ million dollars for a few hours work.

Take crusty, ice cold Andy Rooney. Many many years ago he was making $850k for 5 minutes TV time each week. Now tell me what kind of moron you'd have to be to be unable to take that $850k, dish out $200k for an actual thinker on a weekly topic, have them write it up for you, you then get wheeled in to the studio and read what your personal staff wrote for you. Seriously, any ditch digger in america could do that job.

And lets not forget that some of the dumbest people on the planet are also raking in tens of millions per year. Kim Kardashian ring a bell. Talk about the worlds most untalented undeserving female. $50 million a year for THAT.

Or how about Pew Die Pie, who sits in front of a camera playing video games and making YouTube videos. He makes around $7-9 million a year.

I think there are plenty of talentless hacks that fell into success far more than earned it with 16/7/365 work days. If you can find a hook that snags millions of low IQ Walmart shoppers into being interested in you, you've got a money tree beyond your wildest dreams.

The best money is money others earn for you, right. Bill Gates, if you averaged his income out over his career made well over a million dollars an hour, by utilizing the blood, sweat, and tears of others on a product that people refused to do without. A product that sold itself once Windows arrived. So for 30+ years he's been coasting through life without needing to type a single line of code on a keyboard, while a worldwide army made his money for him. That's how you do it.

Kim K is not an idiot. She is a master of marketing. People like to talk about how idiotic people are, however, success rarely lands in one's lap. The people put themselves in a position to capitalize on what is being dealt to them.

Copy what Kim K. or Andy Rooney or Pew Die Pie does. Let's see how you rack up and how profitable you are. They did not get to where they are for being idiots. Yes, they may be complete morons in some aspects of their lives, however, Pew Die Pie is not an idiot in what matters most to him. Kim K could be a complete moron, but she is not an idiot on how to get people to pay her millions to be herself, etc.

Find that idea that could get low IQ people to be interested in your idea, develop it, market it, and then retire.

I think you forget what got that dumb koont popularized in the first place.
(a) hanging out with Paris Hilton... thank god that dumba$$ is finally out of the news cycles, (b) her daddy got OJ simpson off for double homocide, and (c) she made that retarded a$$ sex tape. I mean seriously... are you telling me the tens of thousands of gorgeous women already doing porn for many years, and which can be viewed FREE on many websites, wouldn't have loved to have had the same insane miss-fortune that created the monster Kim K (emoji for crackpipe)?

Kim can barely tie her shoes, I promise you. That dumb koont receives all her direction from her mommy, who is the mastermind behind terrorizing america with the Tard-dashians. rofl.

There are countless women in america that are far better looking, and far more talented that Kim and will never see even the tiniest fraction of her success. Many times, the difference between an unemployed Einstein, and a ditsy retarded Kim, is who you know.

Another example is Michael Dell. Selling computers out of his dorm room.
Yeah, lol, go ahead and try that today and see if it results in a billion dollar company. Sometimes, it's doing something at the RIGHT TIME that is the difference between success and not. You could have 10,000 kids in college today try that exact same business model, and it never take off, yet assembling a computer from a pile of parts through installing the OS and all the software is a talent I could teach any 6 year old. Many people don't have a remarkable skill that got them success... they knew the right people, or they did it at the right time. And in most cases, those recipes are not repeatable.

Countless people are more attractive or prettier or more talented or have rich friends or ...or...or... than Kim K but none are Kim K. Did she have help to leverage, yes as most people do have people helping to exploit a person or idea.

10,000 college kids were probably doing the same thing as Dell, Gates, Zuckerberg, etc...

Not everyone can fit all of the pieces together to create a masterpiece.

Ok, well we have entirely different ideas of what creates success for certain individuals. It appears you believe everyone who is successful actually (1) has talent, and (2) received no help via luck or timing.

I see it in many cases similar to a viral video. For whatever reason, entirely unrelated to skill, something catches and takes off, and in many cases, the owner/creator themselves will tell you they had no idea success was coming their way. They are completely dumbfounded by it, as they should be, and as I often am for many people. Personally I have no doubt that Kim was shocked as hell that her untalented retarded a$$ was going to catch americas low IQ mouth breathers by storm. There's probably video of her admitting as much.

The woman who owns "grumpy cat" has made over 100 million dollars off that cat. Again, there are many thousands of quirky looking weird cat videos, and yet none of them made their owners a massive fortune.

In any case, I guess we'll agree to disagree.
