I think back on what the Mercedes team was when Lewis joined, and how far the team has come. Pretty remarkable. It makes me wonder if Ricciardo can motivate Renault in a similar way, or if Lando Norris can do the same at McLaren. It's very interesting to watch what kind of effect a gifted driver can have on an entire racing team, especially when those teams are the size and complexity of an F1 team.

I'm not sure right now, but I also calculated that if LH wins 3 more races, he can then come 2nd in every race for the rest of the season and still win the WDC.

I like this plan but maybe we can call it Aero-GOAT and Mechanical-GOAT.

To capture the types of grip they each worked with? What say you, sir?

Ah Jimmy. He's my personal GOAT and probably always will be. But in the grand scheme I think it's hard to come anywhere near Fangio.

Non-aero era....Fangio

Aero era....Prost....my rationale is the amount of steering input to achieve an optimal result....Prost had such little input to achieve greatness.

Prost? this is very interesting.. and yes he had such little input to win sometimes.. like winning races behind closed doors in FIA room or accepting team offers only if he believes he s faster than the other driver.. im not sure you re aware of his dirty side..

Indeed it was the FIAllain back then. Jean Marie Balestre was a corrupt as they come and did all he could to ensure Prost won the championship with the controversial ruling on Senna re entering the track in which he was DQ'd.

If steering input is important to you, racerbruce watch HAMs hands, especially in qualifying. He has very quiet hands which belies the pace at which he's driven his cars. Any cars. McLaren or Mercedes.
