What some people don't understand is in the USA we do not have the 3 or 5 series Touring wagons. So the GT 3 and now 6 are the only alternative to the X Suv's if you need space. I don't know why people are so bothered by this. Variety is the spice of life.

The GT cars will be missed - by their actual drivers
The 5-Series and 3-Series GT have never been popular with BMW fanboys - particularly those on these forums. But to anyone who has actually driven one, or owned one for a few years, they are absolutely fabulous.
My 5-Series GT was the only BMW I kept longer than 2 years - absolutely reliable and trouble free, Wide and long with lots of practical space and versatility for my young family at the time, luxurious levels of spec and standard equipment, and somewhat rarer on the roads than your standard BMW rep-mobile (BMW fanboys, take a bow). Relatively more popular in Asia (you see a lot of 3GT and 5GTs about) in China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia; but understandably coming under pressure from similar priced X-series vehicles; I understand why BMW wishes to trim its model options. But the GT cars will be missed.

I blame it all on the poor taste and lack of sophistication most of my fellow Americans have. BMW won't continue this car, but we get even uglier, lifted versions called the X4 and X6? Ya'll just suck.

No comparison to a 4er GC.
Especially if looks matter. The 5 doors ( yes I count the foot activated massive hatch as a door ) and roof racks Simply solve. I can easily say honestly these GCs have become my favorite DDs.

Dear BMW,
Please listen to the roar of the world and build us the cars we want and need instead of another Xer. We don't need an X in every number from 1 -10 ( X ) Please use these examples if needed ... photo credits to Nick P and Evolve UK. Respectfully, ( for now ) BL

I don't understand where all of the hate is coming from? Simply because of its looks? Grow up people, maybe others have different needs/wants. I hate the looks of the X4 & X6 (and would never buy one because of it), but it doesn't mean I wish they are discontinued.
Different strokes for different folks. I've never owned or driven a 3-GT but am really disappointed it's being discontinued simply because it shows the big picture & direction of BMW's Board of Directors. Instead of expanding, now they're counting beans and contracting. If something doesn't sell "x" amount, ditch it. Today most of you are celebrating the end of the 3-GT and tomorrow you'll all be with pitchforks and axes when the very same board discontinues the manual transmission on the very same basis of not selling "x" amount. Personally I like variety and options, and it's scary times that the BMW board is starting to take those options away one by one while all of you here celebrate and cheer them on...... |

GT is 8" longer than sedan/wagon, 4" of which are in the wheelbase, thus the roomier car. It's almost a bargain "5 Series" for interior usable space.

Last comment on this topic and I'm out....
Astounded by the egocentrism, selfishness, and vanity shown here. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised in the time of Trump, but the sole focus on what some of you personally want/need, without regard to your passengers or the needs of mine or others like me/mine, in actually cheering the loss of a helpful option...simply because you don't care for the look of the roofline? Seriously? Would you be happy to know a wheelchair manufacturer went out of business because you didn't like to have to see their wheels rolling down the sidewalk? I'm sometimes embarrassed by the reputation of BMW drivers....this thread does nothing to lessen that concern.

It honestly reminds me of this other uber ugly car.
Yes, looks do matter. Anyone that says different is just bs'ing. In true Bahaus doctrine... Form definitely followed function here. Rust In Peace

how many times does it need to be said? Yes touring Looks great, the GT not so. But there are more to the 3GT, is also has more space than a 5 series in the backseat. The 5GT/6GT is a 7 with a practical twist and more space inside. So it's not the best looking BMW, but it is spacious and practical, for a BMW.
