I am pretty sure that is all SSFL land around there. Which is not good because back in 70's that land was owned by "Rocketdyne" which was a Rockwell Corporation that built engines used in the Saturn V rocket. There is still alot of conflict over the land because Rocketdyne didnt properly dispose of nuclear waste material which contaminated the surrounding soil.

Years later after Rocketdyne was sold off to Boeing.
The field laboratory was condensed in size and they slowly began building homes all around the area and the local community college. After a few more years, local residence as well as SSFL workers started to develop sorts of cancer. The soil still tested positive for dangerous level of radiation and the clean up efforts are still going on today. Thats why that big chunk of land is undeveloped... kind of interesting!

What SSFL land are you talking about? I work up there and don't know of any airstrips, abandoned or otherwise, in the area.

BTW... the "everybody dying of cancer" thing is a crock.
