It's clearly no secret that this guy has been this way for a very long time, and not only did he get a first award from them, but up until last weekend, he was due to receive a second one. WTF? Am I missing something here? The media seems to be giving this a pass....

If I was a person who counted on the advocacy of the NAACP to uphold my rights, I'd be very concerned to say the least.

To be clear, it was the LA chapter. Groups (any group) with hundreds of "locations" will have some that are well run and some that are not. This is not a good look for the LA chapter, and if I was on the national board I'd be coming down on them to give their rationale as to why they gave him awards (besides the obvious one of money). My guess is that this terrible man has probably given huge amounts of money (for tax purposes) to charities that do good. It often times helps cleanse the soul of ugly rich people when they use their money to help "the peasants".

On another note, I came to this thread bracing myself for all kinds of ugliness. I was relieved to see the opposite.

Not a lawyer, but... He'd have to prove she leaked the tape. What could he get?

If I were him, I'd sell the team, slink off into the sunset, and enjoy my life as a wretched, oppressed, billionaire. With wife, girlfriends on the side, etc. etc. Not prolong this incident.

Everyone's been giving Sterling a pass for some time. The list is quite long. News flash. Rich guys get away with a lot of seriously bad behavior, while receiving various awards, having people tell them how wonderful they are, etc. It's called enabling, and it's one reason why they think they're fine fellows, and that their success is entirely due to their own wonderfulness. And that anyone who isn't successful is unworthy of any respect.

Oh I didn't say he should sue, would sue, etc. I was just curious as to the legal remedies that's all. He could, I guess, go after TMZ who has much deeper pockets than the mistress since they originally published the illegally obtained information. Agree that his best move is take the money and step out of the public eye quietly.

This is also the best the team has done in quite some time so that may actually bolster the value of the team. That was a Forbes figure so who the hell knows. The value of anything is determined by the maximum amount a party is willing to pay for it so the free market will ultimately determine the value.

It's kind of like a wealthy family making a massive donation to Yale so their C- child can attend. He's made hundreds of black people very wealthy and donated to the NAACP to help the community but all of that means nothing now that he was recorded *saying* horrible things in his kitchen to his girlfriend. People always say that actions speak louder than words but I think that is now completely outdated and this is a perfect example of it.

The team is not worth what it would be under his ownership, it's a valuable but currently distressed asset. If he remained in place the team value would be depressed for sure, no sponsors public boycott etc. But a buyer is not going to face any of that, if they spin it properly from a PR angle they could even benefit. It's just like buying any other company that is underperforming, it's worth a lot more to the buyer than the seller.

I bet he sells his ownership to his wife and still "runs" the team. But his wife is pretty wacky. Sunday, "I am not a racist" Next day, she calls her husband's words "poisoned." Next day, they have dinner at Fleming's and she said her husband is not a racist. Must run in the family.

And I think there is enough to get a jury to side with Sterling on the illegal recordings. Ain't no billionaire going to touch her and she'll be broke working at McDonalds. She'll be lucky if she can supersize her meal and rock her G-Shock. And funniest thing she said that she didn't have sex with Sterling. Yeah he just gave her a house, Ferrari, Bentley, jewelry etc. just because.
