I am a relative newbie to the world of Rolex. I love owning and wearing my Rolex watchs. Last week I purchased this Daytona Cosmograph with mother of pearl dial. I think it is very striking. The mop is now discontinued.

007 @ Rolex
Received this as an early birthday present and just finished putting it together (took a few hours over the last few days). I'm a Rolex, 007, cars, and LEGO fan so thought this was fitting. The Watch: The Submariner (no date) was first worn by Sean Connery in the movie Dr. No in 1962. Rolex remained the watch of choice for 007 until 1974 when it was replaced with a Hamilton Pulsar digital watch (played by Roger Moore), followed by Seiko quartz watches for the following 13 years. In 1987, Timothy Dalton as James Bond wore Tag Heuer for the first and only time. In 1989, he switched back to a Submariner with date. That was the last time 007 wore a Rolex. Since 1995, as Pierce Brosnan debuted as James Bond in GoldenEye, 007 has been wear different variants of Omega Seamaster, Planet Ocean, and Aqua Terra. Even though the watch of choice for MI6's most well-known secret agent has changed over the last 60 years, Rolex has special meaning as it was 007's first ever watch on the silver screen. Even the author - Ian Fleming - himself wore a Rolex Explorer as he was writing the 007 novels. The Car: The Aston Martin DB5 made its debut in 1964 and was driven by Sean Connery as 007 in Goldfinger. Over the last six decades, James Bond has driven various AM cars and still does to this day. BMW made its first debut in 1995 when Pierce Brosnan played 007 in GoldenEye. In the latest installment "No Time To Die," and Daniel Craig's final appearance as James Bond, one of the cars he drives in the movie is the classic 1964 DB5 that first appeared in Goldfinger. The Women: Too many women to name and they were all beautiful. James Bond is a charmer and has had his way with the ladies. They never went wrong with any of the Bond girls. The Drink: the Vesper martini - shaken, not stirred. Named after his one true love that tragically passed away (played by the lovely Eva Green in Casino Royale). Here's to a happy Labor Day, great community, watches, cars, women, and the Bond and history between Rolex and 007. Cheers! Source: watchtime.com, mensjournal.com, carcovers.com, and wikipedia.org. |

Tried on a rose gold yachtmaster on oyster flex
Exhibition model Surprised at how much I liked it But realistically speaking, there are so many other watches that I would want before this YM so it will likely never happen Photo doesn't seem to be attaching

Some amazing collections in here. I only have one, but I'm debating another. My wife bought this for me on my 45th birthday (3 years ago).
I'd really like to get an oyster perpetual 41 with a coral red face.

Anyone have luck getting an OP36 or OP41 from Rolex AD? It would be nice to own & wear the coral red but it's sold out.. prices on the grey market are bonkers. Either wait to purchase from Rolex AD for MSRP or pass and look at another brand like Cartier, Omega, Tudor, etc.

I have a Datejust in yellow gold / stainless steel. My late grandfather passed it down to me maybe 10 years ago. He purchased it in Italy in the late 1980's and will live forever in my family

So. I went to my AD today to get my wife's diamond tennis bracelet repaired as she'd broken the safety clasp.
NO Rolex's at all on display anymore due to the potential for theft. But, since I have a bit of a relationship with one of the sales reps, we were talking about maybe getting my wife one down the road. And then she starts pulling out a few different sizes of Oyster Perpetual's for my wife to try on from below the counter. We were just chatting about the Sub (no-date, ceramic) that I'd purchased from her a few years ago and whether or not it would be worth "upgrading" to the newest Sub someday-- and then she pulls out a brand-new Sub from the undercounter safe (with a date, but whatever). We compared side by side. The new movement is supposed to be very nice (+/- 2 sec I think?), and a 70 hour power reserve is nicer than my 48 hour. Other than that? I really couldn't tell much of a difference. The bezel on mine hangs over a tiiiiny bit more, and I could read the lower font on the bottom of the dial a little better. That's it. Not really worth the upgrade, imho. On the plus side, my wife decided on a green Oyster Perpetual 31 for "when I want to surprise her". My AD said she could probably get one eventually but "everyone" wants the green one. Figures. That's my wife. I'll probably put my name on the list-- our 15th Anniversary is coming up in a few years. R.
