Mid-50s and low wind. Couldn't pass up the chance to ride outside. Lots of folks out riding today.

My bike is more than ready for a 10 miler which I'm about to do on this glorious sunny day, now there's a forecast of a new cold front heading for us by next weekend.

"Sorry, I didn't see you."
I'm dressed in neon yellow. I look like a giant banana on a bike. I have a very bright strobe up front and two flashing lights in the rear. And she didn't see me. She's sorry.
I never assume a driver sees me and if I don't make eye contact with them, then I assume they *didn't* see me and will not stop. Such was the case today. But I was already in the intersection coming across the top of a T. She just drove into the intersection turning left and squeezed me off into the gravel. I yelled at her and raise my arm as if to say, WTF? She still didn't see me. She turned into a driveway down the road, so I turned in and told her she just missed hitting me. Hopefully she'll be more attentive next time. But probably not.

I've been reading about saccadic masking. Fascinating subject. In a nutshell, it's the phenomenon where rapid eye movement, like a quick scan from left to right, can produce a blurred image on the retina which your brain then ignores. Could explain why someone could do a quick check to the right, then rapidly left, and still not see an otherwise obvious object.

Windy day, but warm and sunny. Couldn't pass it up. And the part of the ride with that big tailwind was sweet.

Still decent riding weather. Might get one or two more in this week.

Got out this morning while it was still warm. We went from mid-50F temps this morning to mid-30s late this afternoon. This weekend looks to be good for riding. So odd to see such Spring-like weather in February.

I don't think I've ever ridden outside this many times in February. Crazy nice weather this year.

Near 60F here today, so I'll be out for a ride.
UPDATE: Love this bike. No need for the pedal assist going north with that tailwind, but it sure was nice coming south into that headwind.

Last summer was my first foray into cycling. I rode an entry level, all aluminum frame Trek Dual Sport 3 that weighed 32.2 lbs. It served me well, but I could definitely feel the weight on longer (20+ mile) rides.
The wife and I both fell in love with cycling, so this past weekend we upgraded. I picked up a Giant Revolt Advanced Pro 1. Carbon frame and wheels, electronic shifting, and only weighs 19.8 lbs with bottle cages and XTR clipless pedals. The wife picked a Santa Cruz Stigmata with similar characteristics. We can't wait for the warmer weather!

Sweet! Electronic shifting is awesome. Especially if you have joint issues like arthritis. If it's Di2, you can set it to automatically shift your rear cassette two gears up or down when you shift your front chain ring. Makes shifting soooo smooth.
Did you keep the Trek? I have a Trek FX3 that I use for a quick spin around the neighborhood on a nice evening.

I sold the Trek yesterday. Purchased for $980, rode it for 1 season, and sold it for $700. Not too bad.
My wife still has her FX3. Not sure if she plans to keep it or not.

Getting more and more into riding (I'm a runner) and have been really enjoying it. Looking to do my first 50 mile ride in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, I added a roof rack to my M2C. I normally just throw the bike in the back of the X3, but thought it'd be nice to have a back up plan.

Put a sticky note on your steering wheel to remind you it's up there.
Roof mounted bikes and garage doors don't mix well.

Did 24 miles today on top of 16 yesterday. I should be able to get out again tomorrow for my first three-in-a-row in many moons.

To be honest, I have no idea how often I'll use it haha. I was terrified to put the bike above the roof. But yes, good point about putting a sticky note!
