(what's the difference between "regular hybrid" and "phev"?)

I guess the answer is: whatever will be on the XM, let's wait till that launches. But I think everybody assumes V8 + PHEV.
Regular hybrid i'm thinking the Toyota type with a battery large enough that the car can drive certain distance in ev mode but that you never have to recharge it.

If like the XM, it will be PHEV - see charging port cover/door on side of XM:

Any comment on BMW Blog's claim that the Z4 M40i might get a 6MT for the LCI (https://www.bmwblog.com/2022/07/11/b...ransmission/)?

how much more will the volume be - two or three times?
This can be done with small battery less than 3kwh. But it seem like we are talking PHEV in the G90 case.

They have to do something about the Z4, it could potentially be a sign of the Z4M coming back

Summary/in short: Will the new 2023 X7 ever get the motorway assistant feature through OTA? or do they really have to make a new hardware change just 7 months from new production starting date!

This is a tricky question and am hopping to get answers:
If you try to build a 2023 7-series now, you would notice that the Highway Assistant "also known as motorway assistant in Europe" would appear as an added option when you select the Driving Assistance Professional Package
HOWEVER, unlike the 7-series, if you are building the 2023 X7 now, when selecting the Driving Assistance Professional Package, you won't see the language that is also referring to Highway Assistant "also known as motorway assistant in Europe"

We know from some leaks that BMW was planning to include the Highway Assistant "motorway assistant" at the intro for the 7-series, but then in April 2023 for X7. Does that mean X7 will get it through a software update knowing it makes no-sense to change the hardware just 7 months from the starting of production of a new X7 anyway. How can I get confident that it is more of a OTA update and that theX7 is already equipped with the hardware that can make it? I know the iX has the same exact ussie and that they were promising it will get the 2.5or 2+ driving assist autonomous level through OTA update, but nothing solid for X7. Please advise.

Nah. I bet this is just reusing the R&D that was done for the manual version of the Supra.

-Note that G60 will not introduce any new engines or electric motors

does that mean the current gasoline lineup will stay the same (540 b58 and 550 n63) or we are still expecting some type of hybrid version (like b58+EM)?

This is relative to the overall state of BMW powertrains at the time when G60 is released, not to those of G30.

Right, I meant that for G60 are we still expecting hybrid models other than 530e in the US? In the G60 section you listed:

550ex (B58U2+EM, 480hp), M560e (B58M2+EM, 565hp)

What are the "EM" in this case. Are these considered as new EM?

Electric motor. All these powertrains will be in production vehicles by the time G60 comes out. Wait and see.

As I understand it, there was never supposed to be an M550i, so this is no surprise. However, nothing with the B58? 540i/545e/M550e? Or will these come after launch?

Is the M760e going to be available in the US at all?

Or are the only G70s available in the US are the 740i and 760i gas versions, and the i7 50 (delayed intro), 60, and M70 (delayed intro) versions.

I'm not seeing B58 at intro. There will be more models later, as soon as November 2023.

I know that the next year or two is a definite no. Later - maybe.

The new version of the top level transverse B48 (used in FWD M35i cars) will produce 315hp. First appearance in U11 X1 M35i xDrive.
Is an M135i version of F70 planned for European markets, as per F40? Sharing this 315hp B48, of course.
