Because bottom line is it's sold out already so who are we to say that the GTS is not worth it? For 150K you can get a GT3 anytime, anywhere. The GTS you can't end of story.

I just came to think about one thing, It cant be us 700 person who did buy this Gts thats complaining about it being a crap car...😂
By the way, gt4, gt3 are not real limited production cars. They happend to be in the end as they only will have made those made. Like gt4 due to capacity issu in production line as they was starting other cars like Rs i guess. Gt4/gt3 was never out spoken as a limited production nr. car like m4 Gts or 911r. Thats a difference right there i think. |

I know I posted on this topic before, but I still cant fathom getting a GTS over a GT3. It's a shame you can't really test drive both before you decide. My M3 was amazing...the GT3 is the best car I've ever owned.

You're talking the pinnacle of niche cars from one of the most dominant, mass-produced car manufactures on the planet. It's extremely special. It really is. Wait until the GT2 comes out. The GTS will forever be a car that's stretching its arms beyond its wingspan. It's a performer. It's limited. But it will never match a GT3 let alone the RS.

A) That the GT3 was not a limited production car (which it was) B) That you could get them anywhere, anytime for 150k (which was the MSRP for a new GT3) That you can buy a used GT3 for 135k is a different story... |

There were eight 991 GT3s on track Sunday at a PCA day. Not a rare car, but not easy to get an allocation either. Is a fast car, and I have been told is very easy to drive fast on track. Comfortable enough to drive daily. I would be a little concerned about the fact that the engine issues may not be completely resolved as they are on their third iteration. And there is the wind buffeting issue. And finally everything in the Porsche world ends up costing more over time. In fact, we do not discuss costs in terms of dollars, rather in Porsche points (one point = $1000). Just feels better to talks in terms of points rather than dollars.

You're kidding on the 911R right? And while the ADMs on the 991.1 RS are dropping, demand is still high enough that you still can't get them at MSRP.

It will be very hard to find a GTS at MSRP unless you have a voucher at this point. I'm guessing they will be going for 160-180 assuming the stock market stays up.

In the US, there was never hope for anyone to get a 911R since the first day it was on Porsche's website after the Geneva launch. It was pure marketing for a halo car that no one in the US without 918 VIP access or celebrity/preferential treatment could get. So sure, you could configure one to your heart's content, just as you could a RS on their website, but that doesn't mean you'd ever find an open allocation for either model to actually make that a reality. I've heard more "normal" people outside of the US were able to get the 911R so it might not have been applicable to where you live since the 918-VIP program was only in the US. Now onto splitting hairs of what's "limited"... I'll agree that production of GT cars are limited in nature but they aren't capped like the halo cars, the M4 GTS (700 units) or the 911R (991 units). Sure they're built in smaller batches than their bread and butter cars but production for GT cars can expand and contract depending on how Porsche wants to drive/push the market and the state of their development for future models. 991.1 GT3RS production was actually extended this year and from what I've heard, production may actually have exceeded 991.1 GT3 numbers. So while "limited", we are talking production numbers of 991.1 GT3 and GT3RS in the 6,000+ range, that in my book is quite a lot. Now back to your regular Vs. 911 GT3 discussions. Worldwide I think 4000 GT3's were produced 2014, 2015, and a handfull of 2016's, and about the same for the RS will be produced. PTS RS models are selling for 100k over sticker. If you can find a GT3 for 135k that was MSRP for a stripper. My 2015 MSRP with 4500 miles I can sell for 160k MSRP, and I will only sell for a RS nothing more.
991R if your a lucky person to get one it will flip close to 1M which is insane. My buddy has one on order with a PTS RS coming months apart. I will always possibly always drive a for a DD, but I will always keep a GT3 as a collector when possible. The driving of a NA motor that red lines at 9000k insane. |
