It's clearly top notch kit and doubt anyone will poo poo it. But i personally prefer SRAM eTap. I have it on my road bike and the wife's TT bike. Super easy to set up, batteries last a LONG time and when one does go flat, you can swap the front with the rear to finish out your ride while being able to chang gear. As a system, i believe it's a touch lighter than Dura Ace Di2.
I don't think i'll ever had another road bike without eTap on it. The shifting is much more intuitive in my opinion. It takes only about 10 min to become proficient with eTap when riding for the first time. Yet after a few months of riding with eTap, it takes as much or more time to get used to the mechanical shifting of up and down being on the same lever.

I've had it for a year and zero complaints. It's friggen awesome to never have to adjust and to be able to bang through gears while climbing without letting off the gas.
This isn't to discredit etap as I've heard nothing but great reviews. I doubt you could go wrong with either. If you feel like you want to go the 9070 route then get it from Merlin, I saved a shitload going through them (PS: They won't sell SRAM to the United States, I tried getting my 1x from them last week, didn't work) https://www.merlincycles.com/groupsets-1-93716/

I didn't question it. I figured the prices would have dropped a bit now that there's a new DA group out. But I got my 9070 upgrade kit through these guys last year, everything new in the box as it should be. I was skeptical with the pricing even blew out the eBay sharks.

https://www.amazon.com/BIKEHAND-Moun...xel+bike+stand I use one of these. I like these because the only contact point is at the tires. I actually have a place for all the bikes, i just have this for when i need to move them around or bike washing. You can get two or more and they interlock. At angles even. Nice if you have more than one bike to store. I like the Bikehand product too, but i've seen some people not realize it has to go on the non-drive side and jam the forks of the stand between the derailleur and frame trying to make it work. https://www.amazon.com/Feedback-Spor...rds=bike+stand This stand in acton.... Wife's TT bike. My garage has 10' ceilings so hanging bikes via pulley system is nice because you can walk under without ducking. We keep the mtn bikes and her road bike on the pulleys. Her TT and my road bike are kept on easy access hanging stands.

BTW.... still have this BMS SLR02 for sale. Brand new size 54 (m) stealth black frame, 2017, never ridden. Lightly used 2016 Ultegra component group.
Pretty much a new bike. Super solid and just over 16 pounds as pictured.

I noticed your wife's TT has electronic shifting. Do you have it on your bikes as well? If so, how do you like it? What's the ballpark cost to go that route?

Just for shifting components.... Shifter, F & R derailleurs, batterie(s) and charger. Wireless electronic - Red eTap is about $1,600. (not sure if they are coming out with a Force eTap set) Wired electronic - Dura Ace Di2 is about $1,400. Wired electronic - Ultegra Di2 is about $800 I would assume set up on Di2 is pretty straight forward and easy. From experience, i can tell you that eTap set up is super simple. No wires to run, no batteries to hide/mount, simple pairing, simple micro adjustments. It's near dummy proof if you watch the SRAM install video.

I use it for photoshoots and display purposes mainly because of its clean, simple design. Quote:

I just bought a Raleigh Cadent 2 hybrid bike. So far so good. It's quite light and I couldn't say no to the price.

Time - currently ride the RXRS VIP Ulteam (2013) - comfortable, fast, and handles like a dream. I almost bought a Pinarello, and my dealer steered me toward Time, he sells both, but felt that the Time would better suit my needs. He was right. I am sending my frame into Calfee Design for a Di2 retrofit, they internalize all of the components that need to be internalized on a non-Di2 frame. I will be installing the DURA-ACE R9050 Di2 components.
American builders are absolutely incredible: 1. Moots - Mountain or Road, simply solid craftsmanship. 2. Turner - My 5 Spot makes me a far better rider than I deserve to be. |
