10 years. man were talking about what's going on now now now. not 10 years ago. Now we have a serious problem. Your argument is moronic. You want to compare 10 years worth of stats, to what's going on now that's moronic.

Kaep could have protested when he entered the league, but he didnt. Police deaths and Police shootings were both higher then. |

I agree with you OP. Football player's ego in the US is so stupid. I am a huge hockey fan myself, and I have the utmost respect for those players. The work the hardest out of any top professional sport, make the least money, and rarely make the press for BS like colin capernickleturdburger

I think I'm impressed with someone standing up for what they believe even when it has huge backlash from the sheepish followers we call the public as well as possibly costing him his way of life. Takes balls. He also speaks somewhat intelligently on the subject. If I felt strongly about something and had a national stage to air my views on I would do something about it as well. A few years back just after I came home from overseas I was in a country bar where they would always play the national anthem at the beginning of the night. A couple of guys (obvious career serious soldiers by their build, beards and style of dress) sat during this anthem and a couple of young dumb rednecks I knew were going to go over and make them "show respect". I advised that they had already shown theirs with their chosen career path and had fought for the right to disagree with blindly pledging allegiance. One kid looked at me, spit chew in his cup like a moron, and wisely decided against it. That image will never leave me. Two men who had been in the shit sitting during that song helped solidify my feelings for our current govt and it's style of rule. All this being said, I would never disrespect someone who put their time in but I think blindly following is doing just that. Disrespecting their sacrifices.

This perfectly describes a large majority of people putting down what Kaepernick is doing.
Screw what you think is the right time to protest for something you believe strongly in. You know in other countries, protests and riots are a somewhat normal thing. It's EXPECTED for you to stand up for what you believe in and to fight for it. In the USA, I don't know when (maybe always), but it's become almost taboo to speak out against popular opinion. It's become uncomfortable to rub people the wrong way, to make enemies. With all this nonsense about safe zones and crap, it's no wonder we've become so soft as a country that we cannot recognize somebody embodying what the USA is all about by exercising his right to sit/kneel during the national anthem. It's incredibly ignorant and rude for the OP to make a post like this, as if this guy is actually doing something wrong! He's not doing something wrong! Matter of fact, what he's doing is actually working on some micro-level because you're actually making a post about it on a BMW forum! How incredible. He's trying to spread awareness for something that is terribly wrong with this country, and even though it's making people like you angry, it's working. It's raising awareness. I am a minority. I personally would not have the balls to do what Kaepernick is doing. But I'm not going to sit here and tell him he shouldn't do that. I won't tell him to do it somewhere else, at another time. To him, his protest is about the racial injustices that have been occurring for far too long in this country. For all the people opposed to what he's doing, it's all about disrespecting the flag, disrespecting our fallen soldiers and the gold star families who fought for the freedoms he is protesting......disrespecting this and that....you're missing the point, and you're causing even more shit by trying to scapegoat him for your false interpretations of his actual intent. It's really disappointing. We all want to live in a fair and just society, and whatever you think that's not the case right now. Women are at a disadvantage and have been forever. Minorities have been at a disadvantage and have been forever. It's just getting more press now. So people are responding.

Oh yeah, I'm a huge Rage fan....they turn flags upside down...but they do their thing in the correct forum--when I go to a Rage concert I know what I'm getting. When I go to a football game, political agenda is not what I'm paying for. I think you missed the point.

Breaking news
Life isnt fair Never has been and never will be I dont look like brad pitt and you dont look like angelina joli....get over it Anyone familiar with how the Irish and Scots were treated by the English for like 500 years..they were fodder to fight whatever the war of the week was...and then how were they treated once they came to America? They were once again fodder in the civil war This doesnt even begin to discuss how they and their families were treated here in america and in Scotland/Ireland....they were treated as badly or worse than american slaves were and for a longer period of time They persevered and moved on What happened to the Italians? Much the same How about the Chinese, Koreans and most recently the Vietnamese boat people? So if I'm not sympathetic to the crocodile tears of inner city black culture that to a large degree encourages dependency and crime you shouldnt be too surprised. Most of the folks on the team I work on are minorities of one sort or another and all of them worked their arses off to get where they are....and some of them come from places that are far worse than anything you see in inner city democrat controlled cities in the US If you want to work and make sacrifices to make something of yourself then there are plenty of opportunities for anyone that looks |

lol Well after todays shooting.....
He should be free to do whatever he wants IMO. Question i've been to many football gatherings in houses and tailgating. when they play the Nation Anthem all people sit in the couch and the parking lot most people keep drinking, grilling, etc. so..... I don't really care if police shootings are climbing declining or are more mainstream there should be none! period. This last shooting was just plain stupid and did anyone see the video of the police officers who stupidly recorded themselves trying to incriminate this white dude who was warning people of their police check point? they wanted to claim he was waiving his gun (he had a permit) at people. some of the violence might be racist some might be corruption and lack of training the point is there should be none from police officers. |

Kap can protest what he wants, when he wants, how he wants. After all, that's a right this country has afforded him. But the fact that the NFL has taken his cause and made it about the protest is stupid. At this juncture, it's just a protest without a cause. He doesn't even know what he's protesting. He's going to donate $1mil to his cause.... where is the money going? What foundation is he supporting that's raising awareness of his cause? Several outlets have repeated this statement he made and not one has said where he was going to donate money. Maybe if there were such a place like Kap's Anthem Protest Foundation, other people might join in the cause. Me personally, i feel that when you stand on a nationally televised soap box and spout of lies, you need some back lash. His initial narrative, which he's revised several times at this point in time, supports a similar narrative which got innocent police and bystanders shot in Dallas and in other cities around the country. There are groups of people out there who use a false narrative to incite violence and murder against police, Kap's initial comments supported that false narrative. His initial comments about his protest were negligent, ignorant and dangerous when it falls on the ears of his typical follower. But that's his right to do and say as he pleases. Just don't get upset when people exercise their right to do the same in response.
