Somebody ought to build one into a watch. Wear it on your wrist, rarely walk out the door without it and you'd never accidentally leave it in the car or the trunk. Less chance of losing it too.
Make it as fancy and expensive as you want. Somebody will buy it. |

Is this the correct retrofit key? Says 315mhz but want to confirm if all 315mhz chips are both 315/434 compatible?
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/331901559678 |

It's not like BMW don't have a clue what people want or like or what BMW is capable of in the key department...it's just cost maybe they should offer an optional key called a tech key...something like the 7 series key but shrunk and fewer options

I think the new 7 key is functionally and aesthetically better than any of the keys posted here from other auto manufacturers.

Sarcasm alert.
Does this void the warranty of the car if the door handles don't work or ignition starter goes out?? Nice work BTW to retrofit this. Someone needs to work on getting the 7 series key fob to work on the m3/4. |

The only option I can think of so far is to paint it to match the cars exterior colour like porsche do...I put real carbon on the back with a recessed M logo to finish it off

Can be done without buying a key or sending it off...tape paint and clear coat

- Labor time for dis-assembling the key enclosures (without damaging) on both the original and replacement key fobs - No Functional Test, you won't know if it'll work until you receive the key back This might be nit-picky but i'm assuming because BMW is European and they follow the Euro Environmental regulations for electronics that we'll have to use ROHS solder which is a tad costlier. So, unless someone wants to be a guinea pig....I won't know precisely how long it takes without a sample. I'm estimating conservatively, 30 mins? |
