The photos look great. Makes the F30 look dated and the e90 seem like a dinosaur.

In bright sunlight you turn up the brightness if need be but I’ve never had a problem seeing it... At least BMW have kept the cowled display, unlike the new Mercedes flat screen with nothing to keep sunlight off it |

I'm still not sure how I feel about this new digital gauge cluster. I was hoping the new 3 series gauge cluster was going to look more like the X3 digital gauge.
This one seems so busy too much info to be looking at on gauges and I don't like the arrows looks on the right and left side. I think about how I drive now, my E90 gauges show me what I need quickly and I'm not constantly looking at them when I drive. These new gauges are too busy looking. |

Some Highlights of the BMW Cockpit in the all new 3 Series, X5, Z4 and 8 Series
Looks pretty cool but I have most of these "cockpit" information in my head up display in my current m6.
Isn't it duplication of HUD data? Looks a tad busy and my be distracting. |

It looks quite cool, and like anything, will probably be much better in the real world. At the moment, I’m loving the digital cockpit in my M40i, as it has loads of great features, so any improvement over that can only be good.

BMW could draw the conventional round speedo/taho in this big screen. I wish we have an additional "conventional" graphics. No hate for the new design, I like it.
And I think "gay, bmw" is too appleish.... Last edited by KSERGEI-BY; 10-01-2018 at 04:08 AM.. |

They could indeed and maybe they will... but have you seen my pics (on page 6 of this thread) of the semi-digital 'standard' dials! My guess is this is what we'll get if we don't option the full digital display! I'll be saving my money for an option I actually want!

Now that I've taken a day or so to digest the design. I really like it, it is a nice clean way to bridge the gap from past designs to the i modernized digital cockpit.
The overall instrument cluster and dashboard design is clean and sleek! Everything is where it should be. Nice driver oriented ergonomics utilized, all needed information were it needs to be and nothing else. I dig the street navigation in the center consul, as well as the music playing. I also like that it changes colors regarding driving modes. I still would like the "Comfort" mode name changed to (Touring). *The one thing I would to see is that if you the drive prefer a more old-school dial design you can change over to that option. A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Is there a 3D map view like in the Audi equivalent?
Had a viewing of the X5 on the weekend, very sexy car. My only issues are first two specs released in Australia are diesel and it has a gold (closest description I can come up with) grill and accents. Please excuse me while I vomit. |
