I just got the call this morning. I found out about his diagnosis just a few days ago and knew this day would be coming soon. I haven't logged in since I sold my 135 4+ years ago, hate that this is what brings me back. I met a lot of great people and had a lot of great adventures thanks to D. Every time I have an espresso I think about that first trip to Stelvio. Some great days, great companions, and great roads. There are no words adequate.
So it goes...

Oh man
RIP Dackelone you were always there to help with any question that came up no matter how silly or irrelevant it was... even if we disagreed on some topics, you'll be missed by us all!

Oh man, this is terrible. So gutted to hear this! Definitely one of the most knowledgeable (and helpful!) guys on the boards. I guess I joined 1Addicts the same time as him (Feb 2010) and we've interacted many times over the years. Condolences to his family. If there's a BMW Welt in the sky, he's having a blast, and documenting it extensively with his camera. So long, Dack!

Bummer. Sorry for how his family and close friends must be feeling.
What a great guy, it was clear in all his posts here how kind and helpful both he was, I'm certain that spanned to real life. He taught us not only things about our cars but about how to treat each other as well. |

Terrible news. Dackleone was a true enthusiast which is evident in his adventures across Europe and taking us to museums and automotive events with gorgeous pictures and insightful commentary.
The little automotive collections across Europe he knew about were little treasures and he wrote in detail about cars, motorcycles, art, and locations like you were there with him experiencing it like the reader and him were longtime friends. Our last messages were about how we both attended the Villa d'Este at Lake Como in Cernobbio with the unveiling of the Concept 8 Series and how we missed each other while there for two days. I still cherish my press credentials from that year because they were issued from BMW Classic and that was my first international assignment. We chatted about returning there someday soon and having lunch or dinner on Lake Como after a day of taking in lots of cars. Plan on a little toast in your name when I return to Italy in a salute to you my friend. Rest In Peace. |
