I had a 997.2 gts cab for a year. Every drive was exciting and visceral. The noise of an NA engine goes a long way towards achieving that. After checking out a 991.2 and 992 I was pretty disappointed with the sound and couldn't justify spending 100k+. The non-GT 911s have really lost their appeal to me despite their crazy performance.
Lotus needs to get more love here. I rented a base '11 Evora auto (least desirable spec possible) on Turo and even that felt a notch above a 987 cayman 6spd on the same Angeles Crest highway roads. And then I picked up my child from daycare. Lotus just gets the steering right. The Emira looks amazing. |

I have not legitimately considered a late model Porsche because of the P-car tax, options pricing rape, etc.
I do still want an old whale tail turbo Porsche, though |

Honestly I didn't love the C8 at first, but considering what you get for the money I'm thinking that may be an option.
