With or Without a case.
Drive for 3 hours and can barely touch the phone. Likely a X5 Lci 2024 issue. But the can of drink directly next to it is being cooked and is nice and cold |

I know wireless is convenient, but cable charging is much more efficient and charges significantly faster. I've posted this several times, but I do wonder why people want to use wireless charging given the heat, slow charging, etc.

I wonder why one needs to charge their phone in the vehicle at all, unless it is an old phone with bad battery life. Mine stays in my pocket and I charge it at the end of the day.

I've only used my wireless charger on my iPhone 15 pro max, once...that was last night. The phone was hot but functioning when we got to the restaurant. How do I know if I've got this problem? Do I need to try Apple Pay somewhere?

I go on longer drives so charging is helpful to ensure the phone has enough power to last during the drive since I’m using it for navigation (which uses more juice) and then having enough power left for the rest of the day. While wireless charging isn’t a requirement, it makes things less cluttered since I end up needing to put the phone tethered to the charging cable in the passenger seat.

I think you’re referring to the key card which is not the same thing as digital key. The key card will not work if you disconnect the wireless charging tray; however your actual digital keys have nothing to do with it, so they will work just fine.

I got iphone 15 plus first day, and after few days the issue happened, fortunately it is within return window so I just returned it to apple store. Right now, I will wait until this issue is 100% resolved before I will order a new one. BTW, my iphone 12 pro has no issue charging inside my LCI since this May. |

I'm talking about the digital key. The one that's I have on my iPhone. Not the card or the fobs.

BTW, just in case you’re not aware, if you use an iPhone you can still unlock and start your vehicle even with a completely dead iPhone battery. The NFC chip will work independently regardless of the battery status. I tested this again last week in my vehicle opened upon approach just like it normally would. |

Yes, there is a little reserve leftover for the NFC chip to operate. It doesn’t take much. Think of it like a toll tag in your vehicle. Obviously, it would not be ideal to let your phone go completely dead, but you will still be OK to get home.

Just back from the Apple Store for my 3rd warranty replacement for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I was dubious the wireless charger in my 50e could be damaging the NFC sensor used for digital key and Apple Pay. However, this time, the Apple Genius asked me specifically if I had a BMW and used the wireless charger. They replaced the phone again as they're not doing repairs yet on the 15s. He advised to not use the wireless charger as there is now a confirmed issue. He speculated there may end up being a disagreement between Apple and BMW over who is at fault. If Apple accepts responsibility, then there will be a phone fix. If they successfully blame BMW, not sure what the outcome will be. My iPhone SE 3rd Gen charged beautifully on the 50e wireless charger for two months with no issues. Even the 15 Pro Max charged fine and never got hot. So, it seems to me Apple changed something with the NFC sensor or the device design that made it less robust and vulnerable. I will now not be using the wireless charging pad until the issue is fixed or I get a different phone. I'll miss the compensator as it really helped when in the airport parking garage to maintain signal, but it's not worth the hassle and I doubt Apple will continue to be content replacing my phones every week. Word to the wise, hold off on getting an iPhone 15 series if you want to use the wireless charger in the vehicle and if you already have one, DON'T USE THE WIRELESS CHARGER!

It’s madness really there hasn’t at least been some sort of PSA from at least one , both or joint of them.
At least warning people saying , there may be an issue we don’t know , but from the Time being please refrain from using wireless charging until we can confirm |

I haven't tried the BMW Qi charger but the Qi charger we have at home has not caused any problems, iirc 10 watts, and I charge every evening with the Magsafe charger at 15 watts- iPhone 15 Pro. I haven't read of any Magsafe or at home Qi charger bricking of phones.
