Hold your horses. These things can happen. Not sure if it was the right choice of Wolff to let Antonelli race an FP1 session on a circuit with a slippery new surface. Better give him an FP1 test drive on a circuit that has not just been resurfaced.

For the record: also Verstappen had some rough rookie experiences in his earlier F1 days. Live and learn. Once Antonelli will be topping the F1 charts, journalists will remind him ad nauseam to the Monza 2024 shunt. He may reply: "Yeah, an unlucky start of my F1 career, but look at where I am today."

I trust that Antonelli will prove you wrong. Would be a huge mistake to underestimate the boy's skills.

He will be Russell's team mate for 2025. Wolff and his team know why.

Far too fast at the turn first time out and he knew with Cola doing the same but Ant came in even quicker

Red Bull has been holding something back, I think. When engines are turned up, I think Max will take pole, even if the car is not quite where they hoped it would be. Mercedes look better than I expected; I thought heat plus the new surface would cause them to struggle. Ferrari also look good.

McLaren not quite as strong so far. Maybe 4-5 is the best they can hope for in qualifying.
