Living in an apartment and street parking. I'm not driving an M3 so it doesnt matter..any bumper taps or dings get touched up every summer and the car will get detailed right after winters over. Its a BMW not a Ferarri lol.

Yep. This is the way it goes for some people.
Hey, I drive a BMW - Hey, me too. Mine is an M car - Yep, so is mine. Well, I paid cash up front - Of course, I carried in a sack of money with a $ on it. But I wear a Rolex while driving mine - Same, Submariner in da house! So? I drive mine to my house every night and not an apartment or condo.... And so it goes. |

Seriously. Who the fuck cares whether you own or rent. In many situations, you are better off financially to rent. People who blindly own a house because "that is what you are supposed to do" are just sheep.

The only way i justified my M3 purchase was because i owned my home. I just dont know if i could justify it any other way.
But YMMV and everybody's situation is different.

If you have a BMW and live in a house that's smaller than 4,000 sq ft and lacks a bidet then GTFO.
If you have a BMW, you damn well better be into falconry and have at least one champion dressage horse too. |

My dad will only live in apartments now. He constantly moves. Each time he moves he continues to downsize his personal belongings as well. He lived in a beach city a block away from the water. Then, moved on the water in the marina. Then, moved to downtown LA. Now, he is in another hotspot on the West side. This is all in like 7 years.
He doesn't think home ownership is worth it to him anymore. He loves the fact that if something is broken, he calls people and they fix it. He doesn't have to pay property tax. He doesn't have to deal with anything associated with home ownership. Financially, he is more well off due to the fact that he did own a home during his life, but in less than two years he is packing up again and planning to move around Europe in retirement. Maybe I should use OP's mentality and think: "Wow! I can't believe the guy who lives in that small of a house drives a G-wagon." "Whoa, he lives in those houses and drives a 911." WHOA! I remember walking through Laguna Beach and seeing this covered parking spot multiple times with a brand new 911 Turbo in there. I go to Google Maps in hopes to catch it there and find this. |

I live in a 3rd floor flat. The only downside and my only issue is I have to park the car in the public car park over the road. Also means I have to go to my parents to wash it.
Would love to buy a house but the way I see it is this. It will take me several years to save the ridiculous deposits required nowadays as a first time buyer. As my wife is self employed We have been told we will need to save approx £20k deposit as a minimum. A pcp on a Ford Focus is £200+ per month for the sake of an extra £150 per month I would rather drive a nice car which I take enjoyment out instead of sticking with a crap car I don't like for years. |

Agreed. My falcons; Archimedes, Hermes and Ra, all drive M cars. However Hermes just got his first falcon, Joe. We think Joe is a little suspect as he rents an apartment and drives a 335i with no mods. He insists he beat a Porsche on the way to work one day though.

Better get rid of Joe fast. Just think how this makes your family look poor! If you can't one up your neighbours, you have failed in life and might as well give up! Might as well quit the falconry country club now. Handing out your statement of net worth and assets will no longer hold up at the monthly dick wag.

I live in a condo and dive a bmw... Don't really see the need to buy a house right now. I see just how much people pay in interest. Damn near robbery...

Think about property tax too. When one's property tax bill is an M3 payment, it calls for a bit of a cringe. |
