I haven't been paying attention really. I was listening to the radio the other day and the panel were commenting that the video was all the evidence they needed to convict. This is dangerous territory to get into because it can devolve quickly and get quite politically charged. I'd hate to see this thread get "cancelled" for that. I'll say this, the verdict could go either way. I made those arguments on another thread that got cancelled when the incident occurred. I was unpopular and as the investigation unfolded much of what I said that pissed some off came to be true. Interesting times.

I wasn't suggesting that you were a groupie BTW. It has been my experience though that there are some women who tend to like to date coppers. But that can be said for lots of different identifiable groups. Not a bad thing, it lets some folks get dates that otherwise might not.

I feel similar now-a-days when I see a person on the street dressed in medical scrubs!
But still, my Gramps had a mental breakdown during ww2 while working for Esso, keeping the war machine going. He was of German decent, and too old to serve... felt guilty.

We find it too gruesome to watch real time, & so have only seen hi-lights. I don't want to ride the daily roller coaster, so will catch up when a more complete story is out.

I used to date this woman who's brother was a Toronto Firefighter, although I think the only fire he actually fought was his BBQ flaring up. We were all in a bar one night and he was standing behind me, he was hitting on this woman and he actually said to her "I'm in the hero business"......it was sad really.

I rarely told anyone what I did for a living, especially women I was interested in. I'd say I worked for government or was in Trash Collection. It might have been silly, but I liked to get the lay of the land before releasing that fact.

This reminds me of a call when a young woman was all googly-eyed for my Mario Lopez lookalike beat partner while her father nearly died on the side of the house. The ambulance hadn't even transported her father yet and she was already giving my partner the, "come have your way with me" eyes. I had never seen anything like it and it was obvious to me even before it was to him (...and her family was oblivious, and rightfully so given the circumstances). I still bring it up to him all of the time..........the day a lil hottie Hispanic that spoke no English was more concerned with phallic goodness than her own father's health; the power of those Mario Lopez cheeks/dimples. Funny thing is my beat partner also danced salsa, etc. professionally. He definitely has that look.

Being a cop is having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. I will never say I've seen it all but not much surprises me.

It begs the question, did anyone actually think that folks would play nice if the cops were removed? I believe it was in the 1970's a police force in New Brunswick Canada went on strike.....it was like Escape from New York within a few days.

Like my colleague, I'll say stuff like, "I'm a lowly ol' county worker" or "I'm a logistics specialist." Both are truthful! Sometimes I'll tell a woman what I do right from the beginning if I feel like my profession will be a deal breaker and I want to cut my losses if that'll be the case.
