With the 1D and the 1Ds it's not horrible in decent light, but you can only use the center AF point.

This, it's twice as heavy, out of my budget(kinda pushing it with the 4 IS even) and version 1 isn't as sharp as the f4....version 2 is over $2300

I called them yesterday to check on the status and they said they received the lens on the 8/31, repaired the autofocus motor, and shipped it out on 9/1. I should have it back on Thursday. Repair was covered under warranty.

Update #2:

Tokina repaired my 16-50/2.8 and it worked for about 5 minutes before resorting back to the grinding noise. I shipped it back to them, once again, and they responded that the lens is irreparable and they are going to issue me a refund of the purchase price of the lens. The representative mentioned that this particular lens has been very problematic.

I'm thinking about the Sigma 17-50/2.8 OS as a replacement. Any advice or recommendation?

So I got the 70-200 is today...question, is it supposed to make clicking sounds? I think it's the stabilizer cuz when it's off the clicking goes away.

That just looks like shallow DOF and gradient of colors to me because the background isn't showing shapes/contour/representing what it is... which is what I thought bokeh was.
Am I misunderstanding Bokeh still?

A certain amount of clicking is common with IS. If you hear it, that's ok. If your subjects hear it, there might be a problem. It should be audible only when you have the lens very close to your head.

More about Bokeh...

Bokeh really isn't about the far-out-of-focus regions of an image. Everything is pretty much smoothly blurred there. Why Bokeh matters is because when portions of an image get further and further out of focus they don't always smoothly blur out (like simply increasing the radius of the Gaussian Blur filter in Photoshop). Instead the image formed by real lenses often show objects "breaking up" with some nasty looking spatial variations in the region of intermediate focus - before fully blurring out in the far OOF region. A lens that's said to have "good bokeh" avoids this tendency and tends to produce a smooth transition from sharp to blurred as the degree of misfocus increases.
