My "favorite" hold-the-flashlight-for-my-father-story was one year when his cattle ranch seemed to have a bumper crop of rattlesnakes. There was a big one under the house in the crawl space and I was visiting the ranch. So he got his .22 rifle at one crawl space vent and I illuminated the snake at another vent. I kept thinking "What about a ricochet?" Fortunately, he got the snake and did not get me.
