Well aware I’m like 9 months late with this but I’m quite shocked and (pleasantly) surprised the 8 series is getting a second chance. Specifically the non-GC models. No word on whether they’ll be fully electric or ICE, is there (or both)?

Also very excited to see a i4 coupe coming on the Neue Klass platform. It’s reassuring to know coupes still have a future at BMW.

Any news about the upcoming F70? Is still a LCI or a new modell? Just wondering because of the new F70 name.

From outside it still looks pretty much like a F40.

The use of "F70" and not "F40 LCI" should be self explanatory.

BMW is yet to release the pricing and order guide for MY24 G80. They should be out soon.

Confirmed.

(BTW, I might be guessing wrong but it's not always safe to edit BMW pages on Wikipedia from an IP in Munich.)

In the past, you listed an unknown limited production run of M3 around 2026 and I see that's gone. Is that the M4 CS which you have added?

I did misidentify the M4 CS as an M3 initially, that's right. But I gave 2024 as the production start, not 2026.

Any updates on i4 xDrive40? Still 7/23 SOP? 400hp confirmed? Any other technical details available (motors being used, battery size, range, etc)? Will BMW issue a full press release on this model?

Thanks

Do you have information about a production version of the Concept Touring Coupé?

I highly doubt it will be produced...well at least not for the US. But BMW trollers, I want an M version, with AWD and a 6MT!

Is there any speculation about BMW continuing production of the M8 Convertible for MY2025 starting in March 2024?

I wanted to hold off for iDrive 8 and whatever other upgrades might be left in the potential final year of production.

The end of production dates I publish have proven to be less than 100% reliable. If BMW decides a model doesn't sell well enough, it gets cancelled even if the plan was to make it for a longer period.

How much lead time notification does BMW give their dealerships about cancelled models? Do the dealerships find out when it is already too late to place an order?

Typically weeks, a couple of months. You need to be in a close relationship with the dealership so they call you as soon as they learn about it, otherwise you are likely to miss it.

According to the press release about the mid-2023 MPF, iX from 03/23 and i4 from 07/23 will get OS8.5, but others (like the 3er or 4er) will (for now?) not.

Does this mean that BMW will put new hardware into the iX and i4, or is that a software-level thing that is BEV-only? The pretty specific wording about iX built after 03/23 being RSU-eligible makes me wonder.

The new BMW 5 series (G60) will get a diesel engine higher than the 20d - the 40d version of the G70 with around 299 hp.

There are rumors about an even stronger version like a M545d version with the HP of the X5/X6 40d engine with 352 hp.

Is there anything you can say about that?

Those rumors are not grounded in reality. Diesel is dying even in Europe.

540d is coming next year indeed.

X5/X6 LCI has just gotten a 40d as well, but it's the proper ~350PS version. B57TU3 unlike the 740d.

There won't be anything other than 40d. Diesels are done pretty much.

Not coming to the US, surely.
