Just out of curiosity I went on Tirerack and priced out the cost of replacing the stock run flats on my car versus a set of PS4S go flats. The stock run flats cost a couple hundred more.... hate these things.

Furthermore, it's known from European Labeling that the MPSS * versions don't perform as well as the generic MPSS in things like wet conditions. |

Driving home with MPSS on a Ford Focus isn't the same as driving around for 30 minutes in a different make and model vehicle. hardly scientific. The simple fact is the new tire is better...Tire Tech is simply improving by leaps and bounds over the last decade.. The Hankook RS-3 was THE hot tire for the street about 4 years ago and now it's practically totally washed up. I wouldn't go ripping off a set of MPSS just because the 4s is available. However.. since the 4s was compared by Michelin against the CSC6.... the test results even from Michelin show it to be just mildly superior to the CSC6.. certainly M2 buyers need not be up in arms about MPSS vs the CSC6.. yet forum posts show buyers nearly jumping off cliffs because the car is shod with contis . I still don't know where I could buy the SC6 in the USA. Each time this comes up I ask where people are getting this tire and I haven't seen a straight answer. Tire rack shoes 3 sizes. If they carry the tire then why only 3 unless that is only what is available in the US.

Again, as grip was weakness of MPSS to even MPSS, and all independent head to head tests shows that SC6 beat MPSS in wet and dry grip, that Michelin did not post those results (only wet and dry braking where Michelin claims to win by 31 inches) I really cannot put a lot of faith in those numbers until we see independent tests not controlled by Michelin. There is a UK BMW Forum I stumbled on about 4 months ago who's name you might know, but I lost my bookmark, and they had a very detailed posting with some Michelin people about the exact differences in the generic and * versions, such as compound etc. The forum posted this explained the difference in wet braking on the EU label between the 2. Also the bead width of some of generic MPSS sizes are standard where the MPSS * are smaller to fit on the 437m/666m smaller width rims.
