My favorite upscale (well, upscale for me at $95/bottle...I don't like to spend much more than that) cab is Quill. But for any everyday cab, Columbia Crest H3 @ $17.99 bottle is a pleasant surprise and amazing value. I can drink Pierre Matrot Mersault all night long for my white wine. But the Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve chardonnay @ $14/bottle is another great value. |

Everyday Cab lately has been Copolla Cabernet. Pretty good, I think it's around $19 at Kroger.
Need to start filling my rack back up with new tastes. |

Oh awesome...I had never ventured this way so I am excited to see there is a wine thread. I have only been "into" wines for the past 2 years or so, so I have not developed an extensive collection or palette yet, but ill be stopping back by here to post more often now. Currently our go to is a 2006 Vina Mayor from Ribera del Duero (new favorite region).

Digging up an old thread I found by searching...
I had some Caymus Special Selection (2008) recently and decided it was the best wine I've ever had. I've had it in the wine refrigerator for quite a while and enjoyed it with my wife and friends with a filet at Abe & Louie's. It's expensive but I might have to get a bottle of the 2013 vintage to save for a while. I just got Silver Oak's latest release (Napa 2012) but haven't tried it yet.

I've served this at a couple of our parties and people raved about it. They're always shocked when I tell them it's like $9.99.

I love red wine. I love Napa Cabs most, also love Syrah. Have nothing against a good Merlot. Pinot has to be Bergundy, don't care for California pinots. Love Bordeaux as well. My standards:
Daily's - Conn Creek Cab, Markham Merlot, Ferrari Carrano Cab, Uppercut Cab, Decoy Cab, Swanson Merlot, Limerick Lane blends and Zin. MollyDooker The Boxer Syrah Special occasion wines - Boutique wineries you may have not heard of, such as Anamoly Cab, Drinkward Peschon Cab, Foreman Cab, Crocker and Starr Cab and Cab Franc, as well as Caymus, Shafer 1.5 and Paul Hobbs. Also love Washington wines like Betz, Pepperbridge. MollyDooker Blue Eyed Boy or Carnival of Love Syrah. Very Special occasions - Quilceda Creek, Shafer Hillside Select, Chateau Margeaux The total list is mind-boggling, and getting bigger. Did I mention that I love red wine? |

I don't have a specific brand to stick with, but it has to be a cab.
I drink with the price range and would try different brands based on Vivino app which I find the reviews and rating to be quite accurate in the range of $15 to $60. Reviews are quite unreliable when it is over $60/bottle because people tend to think their money is well spent when the taste does not match the price in some cases. All of my DD would be $15-20/bottle. |
