If in the first place Perez had better qualified (the RBR19 is the best performing car of this season), he would have started the Sprint with the front runners, had not been required to muscle his way through the pack, would have limited chances to get entangled in a crash with a Haas (P9) and an Alpine (P8) in lap 11/19 (3 DNFs allowing Hamilton (P11) to move at once into the points from P11 to P8), would not have totaled his chassis ("Chassis 01 got damaged beyond repair during the accident in the Sprint"), would have had a chance to get WDC and WCC points during the Sprint, would not have caused repair costs for RBR and 'one chassis down' and would have lowered the risk of losing #2 in the WDC to Hamilton.

News from Pirelli: maximum 18 laps per tire.

"Maximum number of laps permitted for the race on each single set including all tyres history: 18 laps.
Laps to the grid, formation laps and laps following the chequered flag for the Sprint and Race will not be counted. For the used sets effective number of laps considered from previous sessions will be the total amount, reduced by 2 laps. For the sake of clarity a document with remaining laps available for each set will be distributed to the teams."

That's at least 3 pit stops for a 57 laps race (theoretically: start-18 | 18-36 | 36-54 | 54-57 (finish)) = a very busy pit lane tonight (20 drivers = at least 60 pit stops if they'd all reach the chequered flag).

It's all gonna be quite entertaining with the "maximum 18 laps" rule imposed. I guess that they could have set the limit at 20 laps, but didn't for safety reasons: teams would have tried to go for only 2 pit stops. Now we will have all sorts of tire strategies with at least 3 pit stops per driver.
