Japanese inspired lunch, in my cool new dragon-themed bowl!
 Sticky rice, toasted sesame oil, tamari, nori (dried seaweed) and katsuobushi (dried shaved skipjack tuna flakes). Great combination of flavors and textures. I have wanted a nice rice bowl for a while, and the Japanese-focused market I frequent does not always carry them in stock. Seems like new bowls arrive and they get sold out quickly! |

Leftover ratatouille and fish, with just-baked-an-hour-ago Chaldean flatbread.
The kumquats’ vivid color caught my eye, the nice citrus aroma suggested they would be good, and the tenderness when squeezed agreed. I threw some in the basket and was not disappointed! First experience with kumquats for me. Flavor is similar to an orange, and very tangy. The entire fruit is eaten, including the skin. I had a frozen pizza shell left that I folded and made it into a pan-fried panzerotti filed with veggies and cheese. Not the greatest but it filled my tummy.

"Chef" salad: egg, cheese, tomatoes, pepperoncini and smoked brisket. EVOO, balsamic glaze, S&P. With grilled flatbread, cherries for dessert. |

My girlfriend has been experimenting and made this avocado toast for me over the weekend!
Bread pan-toasted, fresh avocado, honey drizzle, habanero pepper flakes, poached egg, and a sprinkle of salt!
