People are urged to donate but not just to the Red Cross.
Here's a link for the Salvation Army of Houston. http://salvationarmyhouston.org/ |

I already donated yesterday so not an issue for me. The link was for other people. So yes, if they can't get in to the site, they can call. The Red Cross site also provides a way to find local blood donation locations if anyone is so inclined.

Thanks for the thought! Praise God my family and I are well and are actually North of Dallas. We've gotten rain but no where near the epic flooding and devastation taking place down South.

This is a challenge. Quote:
I'm perfectly happy with your first challenge which was indeed a challenge. Relief is needed and if people want to donate, great. That's why I said nothing. I was less happy with your second "challenge" which wasn't a challenge at all, but an attack. You have not the slightest clue who is donating here, because not everyone likes to publicize the fact they donated. Why do you care so much to hear people are donating. Your first comment might inspire someone on the fence to donate, but the follow up attack is unwarranted. So I called you out on it. Just like you were called out on page 6 before donating for saying these people needed to be more self-reliant and given that they were warned for over a week it was coming, well...too bad. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. In your words of course, not mine. |

I'd like to apologize to TXSTYLE for my reply to his comment on the need of a mandatory evacuation order.
I was in South Carolina when Governor Nikki Haley called for mandatory evacuation ahead of Matthew, it did help tremendously. Fewer people had to be rescued as a result, You didnt have those awful nursing home pictures for example bc their residents were moved long before Matthew hit. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-st...-idUSKCN1242AF "CHARLESTON, S.C. (Reuters) - South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley declared a state of emergency on Tuesday and ordered an evacuation of more than a million people in coastal areas starting Wednesday afternoon in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew." |

Some people need to be challenged into action, some need further prodding. We can all afford to donate $100, it's just a matter of priorities. Hopefully those on the fence will delay getting that next mod until next month in order to help strangers in their most desperate hour, whether they post about it or not. If you don't like my tactics, too bad, but I'm pretty sure arguing with me about it isn't doing any good, so just stop. Looks like it's been pouring in Houston all evening. Does anyone know if the water is still rising?
