Exactly this. Are surgical masks 100% effective at say containing a sneeze? definitely not. but it makes a marginal difference. and that is better than nothing. (Sorry I don't have a degree is some material science or OSHA certified but common sense prevails).

Yep. even a N95 mask is not enough to protect the person who wears the mask; they need full body suit, face guard, gloves, etc etc... Masks are there to hinder the spread in case the person who is wearing it is infected. US authorities originally weren't requiring it but looking at Far East countries success in containing this, they changed their policy.

Luckily I get to wear a face mask and live as my alter ego of being an evil henchman during business hours now! Thanks COVID-19!

I've been doing the same thing, along with practicing smiling with my eyes.

The virus isn't actually going to enter through your skin (unless you have an open cut or something). It's when you bring your hand to your face, rub your eyes, breathe in some aerosolized viruses, etc that can result in infection. When wearing gloves you can still do all that. Masks are more to prevent you from spreading it to others. They won't be 100% effective in that, but probably do have some benefit. And while wearing a mask, even if you do end up touching your face, you're less likely to actually hit your mouse/nose, so there's some protection there. |

Probably better that I wasn't. I have been making jokes and comments about "how weird it was that I wanted to see a wiener." She was able to mute me while I yelled, "WE GOT A WIENER!!!!" at my dog.

No new cases in our county for two weeks. This is finals week, so the college kids all go home this weekend, which will reduce another vector. As there are currently no Covid-19 cases at our local hospital, I might even try riding outside again. At least if I crash and have to go to the hospital, I won't have to worry so much about contracting something while I'm there.
And a local pub/restaurant with the best ribs evah is starting curbside pickup this week. Ribs are in my immediate future.

This coming Friday stage one of the roll back happens for us.
A maximum of 10 can start going to cafes and restaurants again, we can have five people in our homes and some other things. I’m pleased to be heading toward the new normal! |
