Sure mate . We are MAX die-hard fans . And that's how it also was during the Mercedes dominance !

Guess , you didn't see MAX fighting vs the 40 km/h faster Party-Mode Mercedes in the 2020 season ?

After a difficult start, Perez did a good recovery job - was combative.

Perez - Hamilton gap in the WDC has now increased from 20 to 24 points.

Norris now got 176 points. He could get #4 in the WDC soon (Sainz is currently #4 with 184 points | Alonso #5 with 183 points | Leclerc #7 with 170 points).

Watched every race and hated it, watched Michael Schumacher's winning streaks, Sebastian Vettel's dominance. These streaks never last but as long as the racing is good, I'm OK. I think Liberty Media Corp. has a better grasp on limiting dynasties than Bernie Ecclestone did.

Formula One season (more commonly known as 'Formula 1 season' or 'F1 season'): season of the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) consisting of a series of races, known as 'Grands Prix', taking place in multiple countries and continents around the world on either purpose-built circuits or closed public roads, featuring Max Verstappen usually annihilating 19 other race drivers since 2022.

FIA should invert the qualifications start grid for the Saturday Sprint.
  • Free Practice #1 and #2 on Friday;
  • replace the "Sprint Shoutout" by qualifications;
  • award points for the qualifications podium finishers: 3 points for P1, 2 for P2 and 1 for P3;
  • Saturday Sprint with inverted qualifications start grid: 20-19-18-...-3-2-1;
  • award 1 point for Fastest Lap by a top-8 finisher during the Sprint;
  • Sunday race with qualifications start grid: 1-2-3-...18-19-20;
  • award 3 points for Fastest Lap by a top-10 finisher during the race.
By doing so:
  • only 1 session of qualifications / no need for a "Sprint Shootout" anymore;
  • more points up for grabs;
  • more action-packed overtaking maneuvers (best qualifiers need to quickly work their way through the pack if they want to score 1 to 8 points during the Sprint);
  • race efforts are better rewarded: podium finish during qualifications, Fastest Lap during Sprint and Sprint race efforts (slower drivers/cars getting a chance to score points + faster drivers/cars got to work harder to get Sprint points);
  • Saturday gets more interesting for public visiting the event - more F1 entertainment.
Top teams will dislike an 'inverted start grid system' because their drivers will be required to work harder, taking more risks + increased risk of accidents. Furthermore, risk that backmarker teams don't mind being last during qualifications (low efforts) and could save tires for the Sprint, as the slowest set time during qualifications gets pole position during the Sprint with an 'inverted start grid system'. Faster teams could sometimes adopt split strategies: driver #1 racing to get the race pole position, driver #2 saves efforts and tires (could even stay inside the pit box without driving any lap during qualifications) to automatically get Sprint pole position (but will be required to start P20 during the race).

Is there a way to make it more complicated?

Also, inverted qualifying is a gimmick I thought was used only in small town stock car tracks in the US. It’s really quite a mess. The fast guys always sandbag in quali bc they’d rather start from the front.

But I do agree that the present sprint race format is a joke. But it needs to be simplified, not made more complicated.

The fast guys with fast cars get lots of podiums in the qualies, Sprint and race. Let them work a bit more by starting from the back during a Sprint. Then it's a matter of using their driving skills to work their way through the pack towards the front, instead of comfortably leaving from pole, P2 or P3 and disappearing in the distance in clean air in no time.

I think that if liberty wants to have racing on saturdays and not spoil the tension for sundays, they have to come up with a separate racing class like having the F1 drivers race in 911 gt3 cup cars or something like that.

Inverted qualifying will be a mess. For that both the drivers and cars are too closely matched. I mean, most drivers need 4-5 laps to pass another car (positioning up, charge battery systems etc and maybe you can pass the longest drs zone). So in a 20 lap sprint, the #15 car can maybe achieve #10. That doesn't make for a very representative race.

Good, then maybe it could avoid that the #1 WDC gathers more points than the #2 WDC and #3 WDC together and gathers more than twice the points gathered by the #2 WDC. Has this kind of sheer dominance ever happened before in the history of F1 ?

With an inverted start grid for a Sprint, backmarkers could get a chance to gather more points than under the current Sprint system.

A good idea I'm for it, that's why Max has a GT3 cup car at his disposal practicing in it just in case it would happen,,every avenue is covered by the World Champ.

I'm fearing that Ferrari won't stop Merc from getting second in the constructors being 24 points behind, Mercs tyre weakness seems to be shadowed by Ferrari's also but then you see a sudden boost from Ferrari, I don't understand it but it may be that there's something that the reds turn down or keep off at certain times. Playing with tyre pressures has been seen as a way with doing well in quali.
