after reading the last few posts, I'm so glad that my BMW dealer basically "forced" me to stop by to get these updates. (07/2024, 3/2024 and the one before that) Never had a problem since the tech was obviously more qualified to make the update install smoothly using the dealer's direct computer link to BMW USA.

Try disabling the remote software upgrade and then restart everything then enable it again.

Earlier today I tried to locate where to turn off automatic remote software updates but could not locate it.

Can you tell me what the main menu where Remote Software Update can be found?Thanks.

I ready don’t consider BMW software updates an OTA updates. It has to many steps. I never had issues when Acura does their TRUE OTA updates. It goes directly to the vehicle & is a real one step process.

From that available apps choose system settings and follow the screenshots

I think that settings was where I was but it looked a bit different. Possibly because I still was attempting to upload to X1.

The terrain view - not sure if this is it but in the option to select the content displayed on the screen ( button on the steering wheel) , there is a new screen with the position of the car like tilt etc, and g meter that can be selected for hud and screen behind the steering wheel.

Surprising yours does. Even my salesperson told me updates need to go through the MyBMW app on phone & then to the ID9 in X1. That’s the way the 03/2024 did as well but it too was not smooth & took a longer to install.

That just might be the difference. The ID 9 is a 🐞 🐛 🪳 buggy system for sure.

To be fair, the download on ID8 takes longer direct to car vs loading it to my phone first and then transferring to the car

Mine also uploads directly to the car …no need to involve the phone or the app. I also have I drive 8 so maybe that’s the difference.

I plan on doing the update tomorrow, but from the description the changes are mostly visual. There is something about the fuel tank control unit, but I don’t know what it’s going to do there.

just remembered something odd that started a month after my BMW dealer updated my X1 xdrive28 to 07/2024 software in July. not sure if it's related.

when I arrive somewhere and turn off the car, the music continues to play(Apple Music, Spotify or whatever streaming music) from CarPlay. I turn off the engine, get out of the car and lock it... then the music continues to play on on my iPhone 15 Pro. I have to manually press pause on the phone. It's not really a "problem" but people do look at me funny in the parking lot because they hear the music playing loudly on my phone as I'm walking away.

I know the problem is not with my iPhone because it doesn't do that on my other cars(BMW 330i, Toyota, Mercedes) when I exit the car with CarPlay still playing music.

Do you have 07/2024.40 or a different build number like .38? Is your Apple CarPlay app up-to-date if you have ID9? (Connected Drive Store > Manage Apps > check for updates).

Would somewhat expect them to fix minor bugs that they are aware of before releasing the OTA version. In Greece they appear to be sending out .44 for example.

I have a 2023 X1 xdrive28 with iDrive8. Current software is 07/2024.30 and it was installed by my BMW dealer during routine service in in July 2024.

This happens immediately after I lock the car. The music resumes playing on my phone at maximum volume.

Very weird... because if I unlock the doors, the music will resume in the car's stereo after CarPlay boots up on the center screen. (music no longer comes out of the phone's speaker)

When I have more time this weekend, I plan to do a full hard reset to see if the problem goes away.

If the required hardware is not there... what else are they supposed to do? They could have kept it for MY25 only and nobody would complain about it.

You're not missing a lot, trust me. Yes you can get out of the car, fiddle one minute with your phone and then watch it drive that last 2 meters at 4km/h.

It can now also park in empty spots based on the lines which is great, but then again I don't need any assistance in an empty parking lot either.
