Went "pirate" on my fishing excursion Thursday. I had 8oz Ron Zacapa in a flask (all gone) and my brother kept mixing Capn into his Yeti mug

When I got back to dry land had a Mikes Cranberry before passing out

I had this the other day, mixed with a Dr Pepper in a big Yeti. Delicious!

Settled on Sam Adams Rebel IPA tonight. Still a good easy-to-find hoppy beer.

It was delicious. One of my favorite Yetis so far. You should try it! Add some bitters optionally.

$250+ a bottle and you're mixing it with Dr Pepper

I wouldn't even do that with Black...save it for the Red.

Just like you cook with good wine, why not make a Yeti with good whiskey?

Well, don’t burn your money. That’s silly.

By the way. Do you like really hoppy craft beers?

No, not into them...hoppy to me means IPA. Just too bitter for my taste. I'm more Porter, Ale, Lager, Stouts.

Guinness, Bass, other nitros, Canadiens, normal boring shit.

I have a kegorator in my bar...don't think I've tapped it in a year now.

Love hoppy beers. Bitter is better.

So, I got 3l of Jack, 750mil of Basil, 750 Goose, 750 Hendricks, 750 Tanq, and a bottle of Jager on Sunday for my bday. Do I have a problem, or does my family just think I do?

How do I store 2 1.5l bottles of Jack? I considered putting one out in the shed, but fluctuations in temperature worry me.

A local speakeasy style bar had that as their "break-even bottle" a couple of weeks ago. ~$130/oz. It's a cool idea they do for some relatively rare (or expensive, or both) bottles.

You can't just put them in the cupboard somewhere?

I agree, I wouldn't put them in the shed. Heat doesn't impact bottled whiskey the way it does beer, but it still can't be good for it.

My new favorite Irish Whiskey! Distilled at Midleton, matured in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. I've been working this bottle down faster than most.

Did I mention there were 3 litres of Jack. I'm on call every 2 weeks, so it puts a real crimp in my speed. Just as I get up a bit of tolerance and can put away 5-6 Jack/coke cans, I go back on call

Trust me, that is nowhere near problem level (says the guy who buys scotch by the case). Best storage for spirits is upright in a dark, cool place, and if they have corks you can try to wet them every 3-6months (I just tip the boxes to 45 degrees - but IIRC, the Jack is a screw-top). Sunlight is worse than heat, but neither is good. Liquor is more durable than beer, so I doubt that short term storage would have any noticeable effect (and we all have a bottle out in the garage/shed, right?).
