It was actually rain, but because it was sunny and the headlights were glaring and the focal plane was a bit shallow, the rain looks grey/white.

i think he rescued two of them (boston terriers) as puppies when something happened to the original owner.

me too. but, alas, I'm on crutches and couldn't back up fast enough without missing the shot - that dog bolted in the direction of its stare at the exact time of this frame.
